Ted Kaufman: Our Next Senator (?)

Filed in National by on November 24, 2008

Update: I have no idea if Ted Kaufman “will be someone who nobody is expecting, but who will be universally regarded as a decent pick.”

He could be regarded as a craptacular pick for all I know.

This is getting good.

Insiders think that we might all be surprise this afternoon.

RAM sees this as great shot of having some kind of decent legacy, so her pick this afternoon (YES…she is picking this afternoon) will be someone who nobody is expecting, but who will be universally regarded as a decent pick.

Dave s insiders are better than mine I guess.

    Who is Ted Kaufmann?

  2. jason330 says:

    Looks like maybe Biden picked.

    This is very disappointing.

    It’s not 2:30 yet.

A decent guy been with Joe for a long time. I prefer Carney

  6. FSP says:

We could be wrong, but three well-placed sources independent of each other would have to be wrong, too.

  7. nemski says:

Can I ask a silly question here? If Biden hasn’t resigned yet, what good is Minner’s pick? Is this the proverbial counting your chickens before they hatch?

  8. jason330 says:

Dang that was silly. I don’t even get it.

  9. Kilroy says:

OK folks here is the real deal, yours truly Kilroy has been negotiating with Minner and Biden for Joe’s senate seat! Joe wants me in! The problem is I want to keep my blog Kilroy’s Delaware online with a ghost writer! We’re having a problem locating a ghost writer with my unique style of grammar that sets me apart from the other Delaware bloggers. There is no real concern with my grammar once in office as I’ll hire Mike Matthews as my communications director. I’ll admit, I’ll have a problem refraining from saying mother-fucker in the media. But Joe isn’t really worried about that. His biggest fear is if I respond to a foreign government leader calling me a mother-fucker with my usually response of saying, “keep your mother off the street and she won’t get fucked.”
So, it’s been a really personal struggle for me to decide on senate appointment or giving up my individuality!

    Where can I get a mother-fucking application?

Has Minner ever really given a shit about protocol?

  13. cassandra_m says:

Kilroy, Biden has certainly held on to his individuality so I wouldn’t sweat it. You, however, the MSM would just call a motherfucking gaffe machine.

    It’s all good.

  14. John Tobin says:

I volunteered for Biden’s Senate campaigns back in the 1970s and 1980s and Ted Kauffman struck me as a pretty decent guy. He was central to Biden’s intercircle, but approachable and down to earth with volunteers. A bright connected man who did not seem to need to visibly show that he had clout or was the smartest person in the room.

I have also encountered him at various Democratic Party functions over the years and he was on the right side of things there as well (there was a split in the New Castle County Committee in the 1980s and he was in the reform wing , as I remember).

  15. delawaredem says:

Of course. Kaufman, a loyal servant and longtime Biden aide and friend, will hold the seat for Beau.

  16. jason330 says:

A steel cage match “Carney/Biden” primary in two years? That will be fun.

  17. Jack Markell wants none of the drama of ignoring Carney. That would be like Barack ignoring Hillary.
