Former DuPont CFO Gary Pfeiffer Nominated as State Secretary of Finance; Deputy State Treasurer Ann Visalli Nominated to Lead Office of Management and Budget

WILMINGTON – Governor-elect Jack Markell unveiled his nominees Wednesday to lead the fight to solve the state’s growing budget crisis, a pair he said brings together “a bold record of public and private-sector success to solve our most pressing problems.”
Markell is nominating his long-time Deputy State Treasurer Ann Visalli to be the Director of the Office of Management and Budget and the former DuPont Chief Financial Officer Gary Pfeiffer to be his Secretary of Finance. Because of the state’s budget shortfall, Visalli and Pfeiffer were the first Cabinet Secretaries Markell selected and announced.

  1. El Somnambulo says:

El Somnambulo is pretty sure that this Gary Pfeiffer is the father of Dan Pfeiffer, who was just named Obama’s Deputy Press Secretary, or something similar.

  2. He who speaks in the third person would be correct.

  3. RSmitty says:

Yeah, the Spooge* Journal already covered it.

*-Henceforth known as the Spooge Journal after the goopy love wRONg Williams spewed all over the readership this morning.

    Alan Levin to DEDO.

That really is a good move and one I didn’t even think of when considering the possibilities.

    Alan Levin to DEDO.

If he goes in for the “let’s bend over for Fortune 500 companies” and try to get them to move here – I’m going to puke.

  6. RSmitty says:

I heard something about targeting you for massive grants to increase capacity and job creation. A little birdie told me.

  7. El Somnambulo says:

Well, Happy Harry’s was a homegrown business and Levin has severed all ties w/Walgreen’s.

El Somnambulo hopes and expects that Levin will be more involved in helping provide the engine for startups and buttressing small business than shelling out mucho dinero to companies looking to hit the lottery at taxpayers’ expense.

That is EXACTLY what I am expecting from him being appointed. I believe his private business, after Walgreens, was to counsel/consult with small business startups.

    EL S,

Hope is a good thing to have.

    Smitty,

    I don’t play that game. Whad’ya think I a Republican or something.

J – Sorry for the slip up…thought it was common knowledge. I tried to be funny. Replace “you” in that comment with “DL” and the humor returns.

It is no biggy. It is common knowledge.

  12. Alan Muller says:

OK. I haven’t heard a peep, really, about how Markell’s administration is looking more and more like a fat-cat Republican event.

Not a word about social justice, the environment … just the kissing of corporate ass with some token gestures like the “Weekend of Service” instead of the “Inaug Ball.”

Of course it was always obvious that, say, the Progressive Dems for Delaware types wouldn’t be players.

But I’m wondering if ANYBODY has anything to say about this, or are yall in a state honeymoon bliss….?
