How do elective office Transition costs for state-wide office get paid for here in Delaware?

I understand that participants are not paid for their time, but participants do have expenses related to transition activity like travel and phone and so on. Does the state provide this funding or does the office winner have to fund it?

If it is the State who funds it, how do you find out the allocations and who watches how the funds are spent?

  1. Good Question. In these times of the unending call to service, you should know that the State pics up the tab for the Gov. and Lt. Gov. ‘s swearing in but not the IC. The whole picture probably can be deduced from that.

There is apparently a provision for transition costs to be paid by the state. That’s what’s paying for Markell’s transition staff and so on.

Markell has said he intends to make sure not all of it is spent.

I haven’t been able to find it in the Code.

Thank you, Alan. I’ve heard similar info from others, but none of us can nail down real allocations for this.
