Palin’s fake pregnancy

Filed in National by on December 5, 2008

I for one hope Andrew Sullivan keeps up the pressure on this story. If you take the time to read about it, you will really find there are some big holes that the Palin camp could easily fill in if they just would release her medical records. Something she DIDN’T DO and to my knowledge SAID SHE WOULD.

Very fishy and if she is going to run in 2012 she is going to have to release them.

Andrew Sullivan is a smart guy (mostly) who I disagree with on issues, but this tabloid fascination with Palin and her pregnancy is just not worthy of him.

There is alot about Palin to criticize and highlight, (and apparently she will be working hard at providing additional fodder for a few years yet), but this is just stupid on Andrew’s part.

  2. until you learn the details sure it is.

she waited 24 hours after her waterbroke to have a baby that was down syndrome and FLEW during that 24 hour span?

So you mean to tell me a woman that was on her 4th? 5th kid? water broke and she was in labor for 24 + hours?

I don’t think so, that in itself stinks.

  3. Unstable Isotope says:

Pro-choice for me means pro-choice. Her decisions about her pregnancy are between her and her doctor and I’m not going to second guess them.

  4. ? I don’t understand where you are going UI

  5. Unstable Isotope says:

My point is it is none of our business what she did while she was in labor, that is decision she made with her doctor.

  6. JohnnyX says:

Sweet Flying Spaghetti Monster, we’re up to this again?

I’m no Palin fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I really wish this “fake pregnancy” witch hunt would just die already. The sheer differences in probability of having chromosomal nondisjunction leading to Down Syndrome by a 40 something year old woman versus her teenage daughter should be enough to convince most reasonable people that the baby really is hers.

  7. cassandra_m says:

I agree with UI — although if she is lying about all of this, it will certainly come out sooner or later — the longer she tries to stay in the spotlight.

And I will stipulate that if this woman were a Democrat, the repubs wouldn’t hesitate to hound this information out of her.

But even if you do know the details, and even if you think that the details are quite improbable, this woman has political views that are horrific enough without doing the tabloid news thing.

  8. Geezer says:

The point is that releasing the records ends the controversy. She won’t do it. Why?

  9. nemski says:

I have larger issues with Palin. Depending on the economy (down), she will be the candidate the candidate for the Radical Right.

  10. Von Cracker says:

    It is quite fishy.

Just to make a point about excusing, out of hand, the charge that Palin can’t be the grandmother due to age-related birth defects…yes, women over 35 have a higher probability of bearing a child with Downs, but women under 35 have a much higher birth rate. This, of course, will skew the numbers somewhat….

Anyway, it’s a question of the integrity of messages that’s the point with all this. Given that Palin is a die-hard abstinence supporter, and her kid got knocked up while still in high school, makes it an issue…sad but true.

What is even sadder is the way the fundies just excused the teen preggo…example #102,205,249 of the Conservative, “Do as I say, and not what I do” subliminal mantra….right next to: “Abortion is wrong, except for mine”.

We all know what the response would have been if Obama’s daughter showed up on stage with her baby’s daddy. “Geesh…Typical!” would’ve been uttered, in unison, throughout Wingnuttia!

Ah, the racism of the Radical Right. 😉 Just saying.

  12. Von Cracker says:

Plus….I don’t think it will matter anyway.

Palin has no future, nationally. She’ll be forever known as a intellectual farce and a divisive hack to 70% of the electorate.

And, I wouldn’t be surprised if she lost re-election for governor….

  13. nemski says:

VC, as far as Palin’s national chances, that’s what the said about Reagan in the ’70s.

  14. h. says:

No not “Geesh typical!” , it would have been … “wow, at least they know who the daddy is.”

  15. Von Cracker says:

True, but at least Raygun had the ability to make non-conservatives think twice about him and cross over. Palin, on the other hand, has made her bed in cement. Those YouTube clips showing her intellectual ineptitude and fantasy-world views will not go away.

Again, nationally, 30% won’t get it done….and I think that approval percentage will not increase over time…..she’s the new Dan Quayle….with apologies to Dan Quayle.

She can try to run for Senate, but she won’t have the McCain campaign and the national GOP in Alaska to roadblock and obfuscate her personal and political dealings…..

  16. nemski says:

VC, I hope you’re right and I’m wrong. I really do.

  17. Joanne Christian says:

For the record-I did crow loud when daughter and baby’s daddy appeared on stage. I don’t have situational ethics.

And yes, she could have labored 24hrs. with a subsequent child. I was that sort. More telling, was if her water broke, that’s when the criticality happens, whether you labor or not. It’s that darn infection, that can kill newborns, and render mothers critically ill.

  18. JC,

Her water did break allegedly, and she hopped on a plain for I think 6 hours after it…

  19. Joanne Christian says:

Well shoot, was she 6 hours from the hospital? It’s wilderness out there. I worked in a place in the Rockies (trauma center), where our catchment area was 4 states…and they weren’t these lil’ 13 colonies either.

  20. Rod says:

I’m glad Andrew Sullivan is going after her and I hope he keeps it up. Andrew’s a member of the fraternity and we certainly don’t want Sarah Palin running for president in 2012.

  21. flutecake says:

Oh, just when you think you’ve seen it all about this fake pregnancy case, there are some serious people on the job who have a picture of the Gov. in March this year, with NO belly.

Apparently, they have cross referenced Gov. Palin’s outfit & event to a 2008 date. But the photo on Flickr has been fiddled, the EXIF data says March 2007, but the camera it was taken with was barely released at that time, probably only available from Amazon, if at all.

I have begun to subscribe to the theory that this is Bristol’s 2nd baby, probably the 2nd daddy, since the Downe’s syndrome happens within the same gene pool, as well as other reasons, ALSO. (see other reader’s comments, too! RACY!).

    Just sayin’…
