Elliot Jacobson Comment Recue: Promises Karen Weldin Stewart Will Be David Levinson Part II

Filed in Delaware by on December 17, 2008

In the comment section of another thread full time KWS apologist and valet, Elliott Jacobson, promises that Karen Weldin Stewart will:

…be working to bring in revenue to the department and the state. In fact, the Insurance Department is a revenue producer for the state, is funded entirely by the industry. A key part of the KWS agenda is to bring in more insurance entities into Delaware for both revenue and jobs.

Sounds good right?

Wrong. We’ve already tried that and as commenter BTDT points out – it sucked:
NYT link

For seven years Mr. Levinson, the state’s elected insurance commissioner, has put pressure on the insurance companies he regulates to invest in a list of local businesses drawn up by his office. What’s wrong with hitting up these Goliaths for what amounts to small change, Mr. Levinson argues, to help a tiny state create desperately needed jobs?

But what Mr. Levinson sees as economic development, a growing number of lawmakers here see as a conflict of interest that falls somewhere between the blatantly bizarre and the oddly corrupt.

Levison set up a “pay to play” scheme, which KWS seems eager to reconstitute. My question is, if large insurance companies decide to pay Weldin Stewart the protection money that Jocobson is looking for, how does that serve Delaware insurance consumers?

The Bottom Line:
The insurance commisioner needs to be working for Delaware insurance consumers. Not insurance comapnies.

God, with all the anti-KWS posts here, this place is becoming like Delaware Curmudgeon with all its daily anti-Obama posts.

What they are doing is counting their chickens before they hatch since Aetna will be back in the state starting January 1.

If Jason wasn’t such a cultist Democrat partisan hack – I would say this was good blogging.

By the way… if it was a Republican doing what KWS is doing, we’d just shrug and ignore it, because that is what we expect from Republicans.

  4. anon says:

KWS does realize of course, that more “insurance entities” only want to come to Delaware if we make it easier for them to screw us all?

(of course she does – it was a rhetorical question)

Absolutely and I can attest. The way x-company-who-is-on-your-side handled my wife being hit head-on was spectacular. From not offering a settlement equal to the current bills all the way to the showdown in binding arbitration, blaming my wife for recklessly becoming pregnant well over a year later. Not to mention making us fully aware to declare every cent, because we lost so much of it to the attorney, that we had to hire because the insurance companies care so deeply for us all.

Oh, lest I forget, thank you so much for being on my side, so every time I get a pay check, I can still immediately scratch at least 50% or so of it off to pay those reckless medical bills that weren’t covered in the settlement! Woo! Yeah! More of that, please!

  9. liz says:

Notice KWS has no mention of “health care” insurance! She thinks bringing all those insurance companies to Delaware will be a boost for the economy? Having all those insurance companies in Delaware will be no better than having all the banks and credit card companies who pay the same license fee as does a car mechanic shop.

Aetna? Wasn’t that the company who wanted to end paying for colonoscopies? Damn I hope Denn did the right thing to assure those still in that office who know what they are doing can not be fired or dismissed by this twit and replaced with more insurance company whores likes her.

  10. First I am not merely KWS’ valet and apologist, I am also proud to be her butler and chauffeur. So please get your facts straight.

Now to the insurance entities; when we talk about insurance entities we are talking about “Captive” insurance companies, a Re-Insurance exchange and bringing other insurance companies to domicile here. I am not going to do your research for you. If you go to the State of Vermont and look up Captive Insurance companies you will find that captives provide lower rates for policyholders and bring in a lot of revenue to the State. You are invited to educate yourself on what a Re-Insurance exchange is.

As far as attracting other insurance companies to write business here and bring new products, we will be active in doing so. With the exception of Medicare and Medicaid, the insurance industry insures America. However, besides bringing in new entities we want to “Re-Engineer the Department into a consumer driven, policyholder driven organization.” Now that was a campaign slogan but actually defines an approach toward managing an organization that significantly alters the conventional American model. I am working on a proposal to introduce to our team on how it would work.

KWS has an ambitious health care agenda that includes bringing to Delaware a “High Risk Pool”, allowing the working poor whose incomes are too high to qualify for Medicaid but insufficient to be able to buy health insurance (Health Insurance premiums here are among the highest in the nation and we will try to bring the regulation of health insurance rates back to the Department of Insurance where they belong) to be able to buy into Medicaid. If you go to our website you can find the complete health care agenda.

Finally, if any of you have an insurance related problem and need help, contact me. We promised to protect the people of Delaware and we are determined to do so.

  14. To R Smitty:

Like you we have any number of horror stories about some insurance companies. Get in touch with me with details and if you want and need help, please let me know. KWS is currently handling a similar situation where she went to bat for an athletic man who rides his bike was hit by a car, suffered multiple injuries and was told by the insurance company of the driver that his injuries constituted a pre-existing condition. KWS has been on this case for months, will not rest until it is satifactorily resolved and now that she is the IC instead of a candidate, she will be in a stronger position to resolve this case.

    Elliott Jacobson

  15. You have a two question poll at the top left with a quote you say is by KWS. KWS never said, implied, suggested, intimated or posted anything even similar to what you attribute to her. How dishonest and pathetic.

    Elliott Jacobson

  16. R Smitty says:

Elliott, it was settled via binding arbitration. We agreed to binding after three years of back and forth, plus we felt lock solid. Their rabid teeth flared on arbitration day. Bastards. I can provide a lesson, yes, but recourse, I believe, is legally over.

  17. Elliott,

Anyone who reads DelawareLiberal realizes those polls are mostly done in jest. When will KWS have a meeting with constituents who have their own concerns? They may not come with $1000 checks in hand, but shouldn’t their concerns be heard as well?

Would love to speak with either you or KWS, but I haven’t received a reply email.

  18. Greener Pastures says:

Mike — You know KWS won’t reply because any time she’s faced with questions and doesn’t have a prepared script with answers someone else wrote for her, she shows what a true moron she really is. Anything halfway intelligent (although it’s just empty promises like most of that stuff her personal valet Elliott Jacobson came up with) is someone else’s idea. KWS is in this for the money and for self-aggrandizement. Period. She’ll get caught sooner or later. And yeah, I believe Elliott really is her chauffeur because she owns nothing now, not even a car. Maybe one of her insurance company buddies will buy her one.

  19. jason330 says:

Elliot is just sore because my view of insurance companies is crushing Karen’s by more than a 10 to 1 margin.

  20. 1- KWS does not use prepared texts.
2- Moron? She is a sweetheart of a lady and what she forgot about anything you don’t know yet. She speaks a bit of Hindi and a bit of Mandarin, has traveled the world and persevered for 8 years, 3 campaigns often standing alone against all the powerful forces in the state and finally won the only office she has ever run for and the chance to make her little part of history.
3- Ideas – Almost all of the proposals originated with KWS, many several years ago. However, that is not particularly important. What is important is what positions you take and what is on your agenda.
4- KWS has never taken a nickel that she didn’t earn and has made many sacrifices over eight years and the 3 campaigns to win. If she was in this for the money she would have had a large campaign war chest, recoveredall the money she loaned her campaign, have had all her debts paid off and have the car she wants.
5-I am KWS’ chauffeur, valet, butler, confidante, defender, friend, pal, campaign manager, and advisor. I am honored to do so.
6- Finally, KWS represents herslef and her constituency has full confidence in her.

  21. liberalgeek says:

6- Finally, KWS represents herslef and her constituency has full confidence in her.

I assume that this means insurance companies.

  22. R. Smitty
I am sorry for what happened to you and your wife. I wish you had been able to get to us when it happened. I ask every blogger that reads this blog and the KWS postings to let us know about specific problems that relate to insurance. You will find us accessible and ready to go to bat.

    Mike:
Please don’t tell me that the polls are in jest
while the other guy tells me I am sore because KWS is losing ten to one. Karen is attributed saying something she never uttered and that is not funny considering that this blog is littered with vicious, malicious and mean spirited assaults in the form of ad hominen attacks.

As far as meeting with constituents, we haven’t even taken office yet, we are in the middle of a transition, preparing legislation, talking to the employees etc. However, once we are in office we will want to get feedback from the public on what they are experiencing as far as insurance isconcerned. Now Mike, I am going ask you and your fellow bloggers to do something constructive; let me know, as I mentioned to Smitty what problems you hear about or experience that the Insurance Department can address. Send them right to me.

    Suzanne
KWS is not going to respond to these blogs.
Why? How and why would you respond to being called a “twit”, “whore”, “moron”. “liar”, “crook” (in so many words)? There is nothing constructive to be gotten out of her taking time out of her busy schedule to respond to people who are uninformed, ignorant and/or just plain venal.

Jason – Congratulations, you won a great victory. Like Mark Twain said “A lie goes half way around the world before truth puts it boots on.”

    Elliott

  23. Joanne Christian says:

    Mr. Jacobson,

Although overall satisfied, I have some insurance concerns from both the consumer side and vendor side that I would like to discuss in the future. Just some filling in of the cracks in some situations, that always seem to find me. I do hope there is a general meet ‘n greet, or something in the future. Until then, I wish you all well in setting up shop. Good Luck, and see you in 2009.

  24. Gabriel says:

OMG…. Now KWS speaks “a bit of Hindi and Mandarin”???? What a total crock! I’ve known her for many years. She barely speaks proper English. She hasn’t traveled the world, either, so stop BS-ing us already, Elliott. You’re the same person who told us she “owns substantial assets.” All she owns is a bunch of personal debts and judgments against her from her high-end spending while she was unemployed for the last 10 years, and you know it. After all, you drive her around since she has no car. Stop being her shill, Elliott…your pet may be stupid, but the rest of us are not. What you’re doing makes you and her look equally ridiculous.

  25. Gabriel says:

Elliott, you can stop lying for KWS now –you did enough of it to get her elected. You sound like an intelligent man. Is your retirement fund so deficient and are you so desperate that you had to stoop to hiring yourself out to this fraud and make her sound like the kind of person she is not, never was, and never will be? If you’re not lying and are just repeating what she told you, I suggest you double check whatever is verifiable. You’ll find none of it is true. You do not want to be associated with her when her flimsy house of cards comes crashing down.

  26. El Somnambulo says:

Elliott Jacobson wrote: “I am KWS’ chauffeur, valet, butler, confidante, defender, friend, pal, campaign manager, and advisor. I am honored to do so.”

El Somnambulo has it on good authority that Elliott Jacobson is both a floor wax AND a dessert topping!

  27. Anon2 says:

Hey, Elliott is it good for you?

  28. jason330 says:

    Geek,

    # 21…

    Booh-yah!

  29. Elliott,

If you don’t feel Jason’s poll is in jest, then file a libel lawsuit and watch it get laughed out of court.

  30. Geezer says:

“El Somnambulo has it on good authority that Elliott Jacobson is both a floor wax AND a dessert topping!”

But not a cheap one, I”m sure. What’s his salary?

  31. Disbelief says:

Eliot now claims, as part of KWS’ resume, that she has “traveled the world”. Can you put up some of the entry and exit stamps on her passport to prove you claim? Or is this assertion like her resume; never seen and completely doubtful?

  32. Gabriel says:

Trust me, it’s fake. I know she’s never had a passport in her life. Stupid deluded Elliott is just trying to make that pretentious moron look like the woman of the world she’d like to be but can’t because she’s too stupid and uneducated. No one seriously believes she even speaks “a bit of” Hindi and Mandarin. What a farce. It would be funny if she hadn’t been elected. Now we’re stuck until she either gets caught in corruption and prosecuted, or her 4 years are up.

  33. Ms. Christian:
First, you don’t have to refer me as “Mr. Jacobson”. We can be quite informal and you can call me “Your Excellency.” Please let me know of the concerns you mentioned and we would be happy to discuss them with you. Right now we are focused on legislation, “Captive” Insurance companies, the Department itself and getting settled in. Once we have our sea legs under us we will be going out and holding meetings with our constituents. I might add KWS gave an interview with John Flaherty and Gerry Fulcher on Delaware Talk Radio disclosing her first pieces of legislation, her approach on “Single Payer” health care, etc.

    Gabriel M’Lad:
    Relax, you’ll live longer.
Karen does speak some Hindi and Mandarin.
In 1984 she was one of a handful of Americans selected to participate in the Young Political Leadership Study Mission to Israel where she and the others went on a fact finding missionto Israel for two weeks. (the actual name of the Study mission is too long to write, thus the word “Young”.)

When she owned her store, “The Red Pin Cushion” on Route 202, she made trips to Hong Kong for her business.

Karen has wealth in the form of assets that are not “liquid”.

The debts came from using her own money in three campaigns for this office, suffering a broken leg, a viral infection in her heart, a concussion and having no health insurance because she is one of the uninsurable. She had to pay all of her medical bills. She had a car, loaned it to someone, the engine block cracked and the car was done.

She worked in the Illinois State Senate for Sen. Harris McDowell for a number of years, ran three campaigns which covered three years and
    suffered the accidents above.

Why do think KWS won the two elections (the primary and the general) with very little money, institutional support, the vicious and slanderous atttacks on the blogs and the radio against two very well financed candidates with considerable organized support? She won because over three campaigns in eight years traveling up and down the state, successfully helping innumerable people out who did not know where to turn, she built up an enormous amount of good will. In one campaign you could never meet or help enough people but in three you have a chance. When people meet KWS what instantly impresses them is her authenticity, her genuineness. More Mother Theresa than Machiavelli, she is, to me, both a rose with a steel stem and the eternal enabler. If KWS is in your corner you don’t need a cut man.

As far as money, the campaign owes me thousands of dollars. My salary was $1000 a month plus expenses, no car allowance but a place to hang my coat. But all you have to do is go to the Department of Elections and look it all up.

Finally, during the campaign you and others kept saying she didn’t do this, never worked for that and here I am looking at the business cards and talking to her former bosses (two of whom are on our transition) that would discredit everything that was said. Further, virtually all of the documentation was on our web site and still is. Incredible!!!

    El Somnanbulo:
No but I am the straw that stirs the drink and the yeast that makes a souffle rise twice.

    Mike:
You defend the indefensible use it to attack unassailable.

    Disbelief:

Two examples of her travels are above and the documentation of her resume is on her web site.
If you have questions let me know.

    Gabriel:
Still fulminating I see. What is the problem, the real problem. I mean I think I know who you are. I get the impression that you have too much time on your hands and/or may be a few slices short of a sandwich. That is to say that if God and 10,000 angels were to testify on KWS’ behalf it would still make no difference.

By the way who is “we”. Certainly not the 217,000 people who voted for KWS.

  34. Suzanne says:

Elliott – I don’t ask for KWS to answer on the blogs – most politicians won’t do that. But she should show up IN PERSON for radio interviews and take questions and not just call in. Questions came up before the elections and they still have not been answered – if she has nothing to hide – why the hesitancy.

I have seen her on the campaign trail, I have heard her stumble over words and answer questions in a way that was not satisfactory.
She doesn’t use a script???? Is that why she started every speech with “I want to use the experience I have to make the changes we need”??? Her speeches were very rehearsed. Not to forget the cheap shot at Brady on her My-space page (I believe that’s where it was), where it said that “experience matters, not size” —

You as her campaign manager failed to RSVP to debates and she showed up late -and she behaved like an ass when they wouldn’t let her talk because she didn’t RSVP on time (at the Cheer center). Don’t tell me that is not true. Sorry , but that is not the kind of person I consider a “a sweetheart of a lady “.

She won the election for one reason and one reason only – this was a DEMOCRATIC year and she won the primaries ONLY because the republicans that switched parties so they can vote for Markell voted for her in the primary because they thought Brady can beat her. And the democrats that had to make a choice between her, Savage, and Reed voted for her because of the finance issues with Reed and Savage being a one-issue candidate. Many voters wanted to vote for Gene but didn’t after the whole issue with the campaign finances came up. Many of those voters want to kick themselves in the behidn right now.

There is a reason why she lost twice before. Sometimes perennial candidates get lucky just because of the timing, not because people want them to get elected.

You can’t possible be this naive and think she got elected because Democrats thought she’d be great. Not after her behavior at the Jefferson Jackson dinner, that’s for sure.

In her victory sopeech she mentioned the Markell-Denn-Stewart administration — no, it’s MARKELL-DENN — her name isn’t part of that. She is not governor or Lt. governor.

  35. Gabriel says:

Elliott…give it up already. Your “explanations” become more ludcrious each time. What I’m most concerned about now is the involvement of KWS, via her unsavory connection to Harris McDowell, in the apparently fraudulent activities and missing funds at PSA. Let’s see what kind of flimsy excuses and lies she and her Elliott protector (hmmm…kinda sounds like a condom) will come up with for that.

Elliott just doesn’t give up in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, does he. Sounds like he’s secretly in love with idiot KWS. He forgot to mention she bankrupted her fabric business, the Pin Cushion on Rt. 202, so even years ago she couldn’t handle money. She is the ultimate egotist who wants to be somebody while never having done anything to deserve it and while knowing full well she’s nobody.

  36. Digger says:

    <>

How convenient for a moron politician. And actually rather funny to consider why you would say that. Are they assets known only to you and other men who have “funded” her during the many, many years she held no salaried job because she was unqualified?

  37. Digger says:

    <>

Perhaps she was uninsurable because she had no gainful employment. So she couldn’t buy another car? Or is she uninsurable there, too?

  38. Digger says:

Ah, I see my posting technique is flawed. Regarding #36, my comment was about KWS having “wealth in the form of assets that are not ‘liquid.'” I replied, “How convenient….,” etc.

Regarding #37, my comment was about KWS “having no health insurance because she is one of the uninsurable.” To that I replied that she has had no gainful employment, etc.

  39. ptthbbt says:

    The Illinois State Senate? Really?

  40. Suzanne,

We have gone in person to studios for radio interviews when it is possible. However, it is not a good use of our time to travel long distances for a 20 minute interview when doing it on the phone is an available option. What questions came up that have not been answered? Please advise.

The blogs? Frankly, the scribblings here are largely political and policy pornography. Many of these bloggers are character assassins, slanderers and libelers with nothing to say. In the few months I have had to wade through this stuff, I have not read a single sentence that illuminated, enlightened or was perceptive about anything. Worse, the decline of the print media, the lowering of the standards of journalism and the rise of the blogs (though the Delaware blogs do not have a major impact yet) is, in my view, a clear and present danger to freedom of speech and the rights of the individual. The blogs, now in its infancy, represents a serpent’s egg of a new form of media tyranny.

KWS’ has delivered distinguished accountings of herself with the TNJ editorial board, the Cape Gazette in the primary, the DTLA Board of Governors that gave her an ovation after her presentation, the Progressive Democrats who issued a “no endorsement”, the recent interview on DTR withJohn Flaherty and Gerry Fulcher and many others. On other occasions she has struggled. However, keep in mind, our campaign consisted of KWS and myself, some people who helped but worked at their “day” jobs full time We had no staff. no real HQ, no money, minimal voter contact and aside from several unions, little institutional or political endorsements. KWS had a broken leg for most of the primary campaign and worked full time in the State Senate. In the evenings we would travel the state going to the events we could go to. KWS’ was not always at her best given the schedule she had which was compounded by the fact that she loaned her car to someone and was without the freedom to easily move about even after her leg healed.

The Cheer Center also turned away Congressman Castle and the State Senator from that district that same day. We contacted the Cheer Center in the morning and were told that we did not RSVP in time and therefore could not participate. In all of the years I have been doing campaigns I cannot recall a time when my candidate has been denied a place in a debate because we did not respond by a certain time. In fact, it was just the opposite. Organizers welcomed us with open arms, happy that we showed up to participate justifying the effort they put in and giving the public an opportunity
to listen to and question the candidates. KWS and I went to the Cheer Center from Wilmington and were denied again along with, as I said, Cong. Castle and the State Senator. Frankly, I think your anger is misdirected. The injured party is the public who misses out and the perpetrators are the officious organizers who defeat the purpose of the debate by denying those who they invite from participating. The lack of an RSVP should not mandate exclusion.

As far as the two wins are concerned, you are, in my view, not quite accurate but that for another time.

What is the complaint with KWS at the Jeff-Jack dinner?

Your final comment about who is part of the “administration” is curious indeed. Why the exclusion?

    Elliott

  41. anon2 says:

Maybe because she’s NOT part of the administration. Auditor, treasurer, attorney general and insurance commissioner are all independent offices. As they should be, providing at least some sort of check and balance to the chief executive.

(Lieutenant governor is also an independent office, but in this election, Markell and Denn clearly ran as a team. Not so Stewart.)

If she wants to be part of the administration, push to abolish the IC office and make it appointed by the governor. Simple!

It’s clear to pretty much everyone that Denn wanted Gene Reed. You can’t claim to be part of the team when you’re not.

If Markell and Denn turn around tomorrow and bring Stewart into the fold, giving her a seat at the table, I’ll eat my words. But they haven’t – and won’t – do that with the AG or with whoever the new treasurer is. That’s not proper.

  42. Gabriel says:

    Elliott:

Instead of constantly making a fool of yourself fawning over KWS, you might have double checked her inflated resume and related claims. That’s all it would have taken, but then the truth would have eliminated her as a contender for the office and you wouldn’t be getting a job “under” her now, would you. Just because she tells you something doesn’t mean it’s true. So far, I have seen nothing slanderous or libelous on this blog. Perhaps you’re as unaware of the law as you are of KWS’s real background: truth is an absolute defense. Pretty naive for your advanced age, aren’t you. And the same goes for the ever-faithful-to-KWS-no-matter-what Nancy Willing.
