How I Am Spending My Morning

Filed in Delaware by on January 20, 2009

At some point between 2AM, when I went to bed last night, and 8AM, when my wife walked my daughter to the bus, someone smashed the window of my locked car and rooted through my console and glove compartment.  I beleive that all they got was a handheld GPS that was in the console.

So, I’ll be spending my morning answering police questions so that they can be filed away, never to be seen again.

That is horrible, LG. That’s a poor way to spend the morning any time much less on Change Day…

  2. pandora says:

I’m so sorry, LG. What a headache.

It’s bummin’ me out. But it can now be my cover for working from home…

  5. pandora says:

I am fired up and ready to go!

    Bummer, LG.

  7. anon says:

That sucks! Did you call it in? I would also let your civic association(if you live in a development) know so people can be alert….

This may, or may not, be the time to practice that time-tested conservative trait of Disproportionate Response….you know…dreaming of having the faux legal clearance for putting a bullet in the head of the thief….or shooting the perp who keeps taking down your McCain/Palin yard sign.

    🙂

I feel ya, LG. The first night I moved into my new house, my car was broken into…for an $80 stereo! Best of all was that the city towed my car (at my expense) because they couldn’t get a hold of me….I hadn’t changed my address yet…

  9. liberalgeek says:

    Oh, man VC. That’s rough.

I prefer the Pulp fiction line of: It woulda been worth him breaking my window for me to catch him breaking it.

  10. pandora says:

We don’t lock our car doors – and, yes, we live in the city. Not much worth stealing, and the damage they do breaking in tends to outweigh the value of what they could take.

  11. nemski says:

    vc, that sucks

  12. Von Cracker says:

Being a former Jeep (real Jeep) owner, I never locked my doors since a knife to the soft top was an easy entry anyway. I learned real quickly to keep nothing of any value in the console or glove box….that was until a bought and installed a strong box console (had the stereo in it as well). I don’t know how many times I got to my car the next day and saw that the door was left opened by some dirtbag….

Back in college, living in Park Place, I came across a poor fella rummaging through my ride. It was late and I was walking back from a friends apt around 3am or so. Let’s just say I detained him until the police got there.

    LG – Vincent Vega’s ride….I remember…

LG, I feel for you, this truely sucks. I had left my car unlocked about 8 years ago, left about $40, my walet and my work laptop. They took my money, laptop and just one cc. They tried using the cc twice but were refused, over the limit lol. Eventually the perks were caught, 6 months in jail and told to pay restitution of $200 each. One person fully paid, the other paid $20 then stopped. I then met AG Brady at a party, told her the story that the parole officer who said they were too busy to collect just $180 and that it wouldnt hurt me, that then within 2 weeks I recieved a check for the balance. Its only justice that I was to be repaid.

Anyway, enjoy your day, I know you worked hard for this day to come.

All the crime will stop now that obama is in. I am pretty sure it was one of the Bush daughters.

  16. donviti says:

    most likely you deserved it.

I’m with Pandora on this: no locks = no broken windows.

The police must be sick and tired of telling people not to leave ANYTHING in their cars due to break ins.

Sorry for your bad luck Geek…look on the bright side: your car wasn’t stolen (or towed). 🙂

  18. liberalgeek says:

    Thanks, SRC.

Just a few hours before, I had several thousand dollars worth of stuff (laptops, cameras, etc.) in the car (the trunk actually) so I’m glad that I thought to take everything out.

They didn’t break the window because they saw something, they broke it hoping to find something. Hell, as messy as that car is, I can’t even find anything in it.

Geez Geek, Besides feeling really bad for you–why would workforce housing want to move into a neighborhood like that? (little smiley thing)

No good deed goes unpunished huh?!

  20. pandora says:

    Joanne, how to do 🙂
