New Castle County voters spit in the face of a 25 year PR campaign by radical Republicans to convince people that government services are free.
County Executive Chris Coons asked the residents of New Castle County to speak out, which they did in force at the first of 12 listening sessions sponsored by the county.

Residents in the 8th district, where the session was held, seemed unanimous that they would take a tax hike to keep services in the county.
It is time for tax increases to be seen as a sign the grownups are in charge.

This is just one District out of 12, but this shows why Chris Coons is doing this — present the pertinent info and let direct public opinion not just be the guide but also political cover.
I’ve been arguing for awhile that people want the government they want, it is up to leadership to tell them what that costs (unlike Rs who would just tell you that government is free or can be had on credit cards).
That is interesting. It’s about time politicians get real with their constituents about what things cost.
Were they told about the 5% over 3% raises for county employees? That sure ain’t free.
