Hey look, Obama get’s it…

Wierd…

“‘This is where I get to be honest, and I hope I’m not out of school here,’ Obama said in a transcript published by JTA, a respected news service on Jewish issues. ‘I think there is a strain within the pro-Israel community that says unless you adopt an unwavering pro-Likud approach to Israel that you’re anti-Israel, and that can’t be the measure of our friendship with Israel. If we cannot have an honest dialogue about how do we achieve these goals, then we’re not going to make progress.’

“Obama added, ‘One of the things that struck me when I went to Israel was how much more open the debate was around these issues in Israel than they are sometimes here in the United States. It’s very ironic.'”

Wow, it’s going to be hard to be the Best President in Modern History when the guy following you says stuff like that. It is kinda like playing basketball against your dad when you are 8 and thinking he is the best ever. Then you play Jordan and go oh, wow dad, you sucked, this guy is really the best.

It’s interesting to hear a politician other than Jimmy Carter say things like this. I hope Obama can make some headway in these issues, but it will be extremely difficult.

  2. MJ says:

Let’s hope that Bibi Netanyahu does not win the election next month.

  3. Truth Teller says:

Bibi a true son of Israel born in Philadelphia Pa.

that’s why the Arabs hate them so much they are not from there but invaders

Who else is running other then the sadist, fascist Bibi, and the war criminal Livni….big freaking choice. As Carter says there must be a two state solution, since one state would be the end of Israel. The population of the indigenous Palestinans are so high, they would out vote the zionists easily. So two states going back to 67 borders is the only way out. The problem will be getting those right wing zealot settlers out of the West Bank, and stopping those ready to move in and occupy Gaza. Carter has a new book, and he has hope that Obama and Mitchell will bring a solution…lets all hope Carter is right.

  5. Truth Teller says:

If Israel is a true Democratic state then there should not be 2 states but one.

  6. delacrat says:

It is hardly surprising that debate is much more open in israel than the US.

Israelis can’t call each other anti-semites and still be taken seriously.

  7. Susan Regis Collins says:

I saw Pres. Carter on Charlie Rose last night. He does, indeed, believe in the two state solution. He suggests the Palestinians swap a ‘settlers’ part of the West Bank w/Isreal in exchange for a strip of land (30 miles) that would connect the West Bank with Gaza.

If Jimmy likes it so do I 🙂
