Horses Long Gone, Castle To Close Barn Door

I guess this is something.

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — A key lawmaker on Monday introduced legislation requiring that hedge fund managers register with the Securities and Exchange Commission and open up their books periodically to government examiners. Rep. Mike Castle, D-Del., said his legislation would give the SEC more information about the impact hedge funds have on markets. However, many critics argue that the SEC doesn’t have the resources to oversee the $1.5 billion industry. House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank, D-Mass., has said he supports such legislation, which he expects to bring to a vote before his committee. A large number of fund managers voluntarily register with the SEC because many pension fund investors will not invest with hedge funds otherwise. End of Story

Don’t get sucked in by him again. Mike Castle is like the crazy girlfriend from college . . . just stay away no matter what he says or does.

D-Del? We don’t want him. Give him back to the GOP.

This is the second time I’ve seen him listed as D. I’m with MJ, we don’t want him.

Requiring hedge fund managers to be audited is a good first step I suppose (it depends on how watered down the actual bill is) but it’s pretty amazing that they are talking about this only now. While they are at it, could they please close the loophole that hedge fund managers only pay 15% capital gains tax on their earnings?

You guys are pathetic. Is everything in your world either black or white, good or evil? Is there no middle ground? You’d have an ounce of credibility if you weren’t so blindly partisan.

If “bi-partisanship” meant something other than allowing the country to get raped by Republicans I guess I’d see more value in being bi-paritsan.

Let us all remember her brilliant political insight when she wrote about the 2008 election:
