9 Days Until NCCo Special

Filed in National by on February 10, 2009

A tippster reminds us…

Tagging Mike Castle is fun and important, but don’t forget the February 19 special election for New Castle County Council. Republicans haven’t.

We have a great candiate in Lisa Diller – so let’s get this done.

We don’t need to let the R’s steal another special.

The R’s always out perform the D’s when it comes to turn-out! This race will be no different — they are the underdogs and they will make the effort! The D’s will assume that it’s theirs and not bother to vote. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory just like we did in the 6th District.

Absentee affidavits are available from the Dept. of Elections website and must be completed and received at the DOE by this Friday, Feb 13th. If you can’t make it to the polls vote absentee. It is important.

If you work downtown you can go over to 800 French Street, 4th Floor and vote now at the Dept. of Elections. It is important.

The polls will be open from 7:00AM to 8:00PM on Thursday, February 19th — you vote at your regular polling place, nothing tricky, just go where you went in November. It is important.

Would you like somebody to come hold your hand? Call DelDems at 328-9036 and they will pick you up and deliver you to the polls and then take you home and give you a lollypop for being so brave. It is important.

If you live in the 5th Council District VOTE. If you have friends or family in the 5th Council District make them vote. It is important

I think she’ll win but we need everyone in the 5th Council district to get out and vote. Let’s make sure that the Council doesn’t become an All Boys’ Club again!

Also, I think Lisa needs volunteers on election day to help out as challengers. Contact her if you have time to help!

Are you the folks that were all up in arms over work force housing?

I’m calling bullshit on this one.

  4. jason330 says:

    I don’t get your point.

Hey UI — perhaps you might want to expand on what challengers do, so that lurkers might know what they are being asked for…

  6. Unstable Isotope says:

Challengers can get the vote totals from the voting machines. They then phone these totals to the HQ. It doesn’t break down by party or anything, but they can see how big the turnout is. Candidates can use these numbers, especially if they’re looking to drive turnout in certain districts. I think each candidate has a certain number of challenges. I think they usually try to get a total in the late morning, early afternoon, late afternoon and when the polls close.

    “I don’t get your point”

Having a politically non-competitive County Council dominated by the Democrats brought us WFH. Why, apart from party loyalty, would you folks want that to continue?

  8. jason330 says:

Lisa is not that type of Democrat.

  9. John Kowalko says:

I will be out knocking on doors Friday and Saturday with Lisa. I will be walking and supporting Lisa Diller and voting for her on Thursday, February 19th. I am not supporting Lisa because she is a Democrat or in spite of that fact. I am supporting Lisa Diller and asking everyone to support Lisa because she is honest and thoughtful, bright and passionate. She has a sense of compassion and awareness for the community that is uncommon in politics and public service. I’ve always prided myself on constituent service and accessibility to my constituency and all of the people in Delaware. Lisa Diller is as close in attitude and willingness to serve the public as I think and hope I have been. That is the reason I support Lisa and hope you will also. I think it’s a rare opportunity for me to work hand in hand and side by side with someone who will put the interests of the people first and will be only a phone call away for you and me. Please come out and vote on Thursday Feb. 19th for that person who will be there for you and your families. Lisa Diller is that person.

County government is dominated by persons either lulled and lazy or downright dirty, Tom.
WFH is not a GOP issue any more than it is a DEM issue. It is a financial issue.
