AFSCME needs to totally Judo throw this and turn it into a recruiting commercial.

It could be like when the minute men turned “Yankee Doodle” into an anthem.

  2. cassandra_m says:

Can you imagine the media reaction if something like this had been sent by a House Democrat to the Chamber of Commerce?

  3. MJ says:

Olberman was ripping it apart tonight. Gotta love those republicraps.

  4. Shoe Throwing Instructor says:

It`s sad but the war that republicans have been waging on unions is sadly the only war they have ever won
Back in the middle seventies when union membership in non- government jobs stood at it`s alltime high of 36% the average american worker could count on a living wage, medical and retirement benefits and job security.
Now in 2009 with union membership down to an all time low of under 7%, workers can count on none of the above, while wages have fallen to the smallest percentage of our national wealth since 1929, while profits in 2006 came in at their highest percentage in 65 years.

The moral of the story is a rising tide lifts all boats, as long as the threat of a union was there management played fair. Without that fear it`s bend over a grab your ankles people because your demands stand in the way of profit. Any wonder why the economy is going to hell, they forgot that workers were also their customers, OPPS.

Stay classy Republicans! Is there actually any group that they haven’t insulted yet?

  6. TPN says:

LOL. Yeah, it’s those damn pesky Republican voice-over announcers from the early 80’s.

    From YouTube :

“This was a PSA that the voice-over person decided to record an “alternate” version of for fun. This comes from the archives of a local tv station.”

    Fawkin’ A.

  7. Oh come on.

    Admit it.

    It is damn funny!

  8. if it was made by a bunch of Italians or Union guys, poking fun at themselves then yes, it may be funny.

instead it is made by anti-union, gay bashing, moral majority, southern strategy bigots. so no, it isn’t damn funny.

  9. Miscreant says:

What’s the union done for you lately, coward?

  10. Except, as pointed out in the comment before mine, it was not made by “anti-union, gay bashing, moral majority, southern strategy bigots”. It was made by the very announcer that did the original voiceover at the time he did the original.

And sorry — parody is funny, even when not made by members of the groups parodied. Especially given the history of unions being mobbed-up organizations under the thumb of organized crime.

Heck — I wish the guy had also done one with an Eastern European accent noting the historic Communist connections of many unions as well. It would have been hysterical.

After all, parody only works when it contains a healthy dollop of the truth — otherwise it is either nonsense or not funny.

By the way, your own bigotry is showing in your description. Physician, heal thyself.
