UPDATE per Atrios:
It’s smaller, but it looks like they’re adding at least some of the smart stuff (school funds, state aid) and taking out at least a bit of the dumb stuff (at least reducing tax breaks for home and car purchases).
So save your dime.
So Senate has passed its version of the economic recovery package. Thanks to tom Carper, it includes a decrease in education funding, including the state stabilization funds, school modernization grants, and Head Start. Now, the House and Senate are meeting to resolve the differences between the two bills; the goal is to pass the final legislation this week.
It is probaly pointless because we have the WORST BLUE STATE congressional delegation in the country, but we should probably call Kauffman, Carper and Castle now and ask them to support the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and to fund the education items at the levels contained in the House bill.
