What A Lying Baby

Talk Left has more, but let me highlight.

Rick Santelli, now famous for his CNBC rant, has donned his victim hat while telling a big ol’ whopper.  Get this exchange with G. Gordon Liddy concerning WH Press Secretary Gibbs comments.

SANTELLI: He started that press conference saying, “I don’t know where he lives, I don’t know where his house is.” This is the Press Secretary of the White House. Is that the kind of thing we want? Is that —

LIDDY: It’s a veiled threat.

SANTELLI: It really is. […] I don’t really want to be a spokesman, but I really am very proud of a) the response I’m getting, which is overwhelmingly positive, and b) discourse, that is debate. That if the pressure and the heat I’m taking from the White House – the fact my kids are nervous to go to school – I can take that, okay.

Now, here’s what Gibbs actually said:

GIBBS: I’ve watched Mr. Santelli on cable the past 24 hours or so. I’m not entirely sure where Mr. Santelli lives or in what house he lives but the American people are struggling every day to meet their mortgages, stay in their jobs, pay their bills, send their kids to school.

Outrageous!

The GOP noise machine would be something that I would be very proud of, were I a Republican.

Reallly, you’re okay with your kids being nervous? Either he’s lying about his kids being nervous or he’s a real bad Dad.

  3. cassandra_m says:

You can tell they’ve got nowhere else to go when they get their victim on. And even then, they are insensible — as in being OK that your kids are nervous to school. If his kids are nervous it is because their dad is a laughingstock.

ya know…. i’ve been conflicted about this for a few weeks.. not THIS particular case, where i side with gibbs, but i gotta say.. i don’t like him. He is VERY perino/fleischer/mclellan/snow(RIP)ish. He does the side step, obvious deflections when asked about transparency that we were PROMISED. for NOW I’m blaming the press sec, and not the administration, but if he doesn’t stop acting like a Bush Press Secretary… well let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.

This is what happens when the line separating news, sensation, entertainment, and reality TV becomes blurred beyond recognition. This guy is a folk hero for being a whacked-out, know-nothing moron (with bad teeth) masquerading as a journalist. At least Howard Beale had an intellect.

Speaking of journalism blurred beyond recognition, I canceled my News Journal subscription today. As a former newspaper journalist, it was a momentous decision. But I got fed up with the combination of ever-shrinking newshole, growing obsolescence, the anemic opinion page, and these fitful pseudo-crusades they undertake, half-assed.

Vol. fire companies have a lot of money!

    That one was a hoot.

  7. Unstable Isotope says:

That interview is beyond silly. Santelli is worried that Gibbs is coming after him? He certainly has an inflated sense of his own importance, doesn’t he?

  8. xstryker says:

In all fairness, he was talking to G. Gordon Liddy. I imagine every time a wingnut looks Liddy in the face, he’s suddenly reminded that even the biggest lying criminal douchebag in the world can get a second career in right wing talk radio.

  9. Truth Teller says:

This guy claims to know the market. Then why didn’t he and all the other so called experts see this coming???????

  10. anon says:

and these fitful pseudo-crusades they undertake, half-assed.

Half-assed pseudo-crusades are all they have the time and manpower to do anymore.

Lee Ann – Are you avoiding reading the NJ altogether, or do you read a state subscription at work or scan it online?

Is DNREC’s chief of planning admitting she’s not paying attention to the only statewide news outlet?

  11. Lee Ann says:

I’ll read it at work and buy it on Sunday.

  12. Lee Ann says:

After all, I am the focus of one of the fitful pseudo-crusades. That I could wind up on the front page above the fold with all the other stuff going on in Delaware kind of makes my point.

  13. Val Kill says:

After eight years of carrying water for Tom Gordon, Ron Williams belches about Lee Ann, between his weekly corrections.

  14. Lee Ann says:

Won’t miss Ron, either. Thanks for the support, I think. p.s. He is still carrying their water.

  15. Lee Ann says:

Not that anyone will miss me or care, but I am giving up blogging for Lent. Reading and participating. See you in 40 days. Signing off.

  16. Val Kill says:

You’re in good company, Lee Ann. Williams’ screeds against Coons and Colm Connolly are psychotic.

  17. jason330 says:

    You just came back.
