Maybe I’m just strange, but what is the deal with men dressing up as older women nowadays? I just don’t get it, and I think it’s disrespectful.

  2. Dude, your lack of appreciation for Tyler Perry is a cultural thing. Kind of like how I can’t stand Bollywood movies.

  3. your lack of appreciation for Tyler Perry is a cultural thing.

No it isn’t. They really are bad movies.

    😮

  4. My brother and sister in law loves these things. I know it has an audience, but c’mon!

Tyler Perry rocks dudes. Seriously, you didn’t grow up with Flip Wilson?

  6. Flip Wilson was seriously funny.

Tyler Perry has his moments and is often the best presence on the screen in his movies, but the movies are way too facile (overly sentimental, too many stereotypes, cheap spirituality) for me.

    Always a pleasure.

  8. Haven’t seen any Tyler Perry movies to judge.

I avoid any movie that appears to be:

    1. Sentimental
    2. Inspirational
    3. Written or inspired by any of the writers of the Scary Movie franchise
    4. A horror movie where you root for the killer and/or against the victims

I know what I don’t like and I avoid it.

  9. Mrs XStryker

Mr. XStryker makes his decisions about movies based ENTIRELY on the trailer. If the trailer is bad he will not see it no matter how much I beg.

Case in point: My Favorite Band has a cameo as a wedding band in an upcoming movie and X doesn’t want to go. I had to get one of my friends to agree to see it with me.

  10. That’s not a bad strategy, really. It depends upon where you are seeing these trailers. Trailers for movies at the Ritz are alot different than the loud, clichéd business of the usual multiplex stuff. I pick by directors and some actors.

  11. Add “Buddy Movie Starring Paul Rudd” to my list.

I was waiting for Mike Matthews to weigh in here. Is he really gone?
