Republicans Have Bigger Problems Than Lowering Pelosi’s Poll Numbers

Filed in National by on March 11, 2009

They have Rush’s poll numbers.

According to the Democratic polling firm, voters view the conservative talk show host “negatively by a two-to-one ratio (53 to 26 percent), with nearly half the country, 45 percent, viewing him very, very negatively. Among independents, the ratio rises to three-to-one.”

45% view him very, very negatively.  I’m shocked, I tell you.  Shocked! But not everyone sees Rush as a problem…

In short, Limbaugh is toxic for the GOP brand. But the findings only get worse from there. “By a nearly two-to-one ratio (57 to 32 percent) a majority of voters — and independents — say Limbaugh does not “share their values,” but Republicans are in a different world where, by two-to-one, they believe he shares them.”

Could the reason most people consider Rush Limbaugh the leader of the Republican Party be the fact that he is?

* 49 percent of respondents said Limbaugh has too much influence over Republican ideas and direction.
* 15 percent said he has too little influence.
* 62 percent of voters said the GOP was embracing the “same old ideas and leaders it has relied on for the past 20 years” rather than seeking out new leaders and fresh ideas.

I have no idea how Republicans put this genie back in the bottle, but they better do something since they are the only losers in this fight.

It’s okay, George Snuflelumpugus will keep giving them jobs on Sunday morning. And ABC News will keep the rest of them employed.

These kind of numbers — especially among Independent voters — is exactly why Gibbs and Rahm have pointed to Limbaugh as the leader of the GOP.

And the GOP just embraced Limbaugh — making Gibbs and Limbaugh right.

62% said the GOP is embracing the same old ideas! That’s really bad polling for the GOP. Are they so caught up in their alternate reality that they don’t see what they’re doing is hurting them badly? I know McHenry said they’re looking long term, but really they’re coming out and saying right now in the middle of the worst economic crisis almost every living American has experienced, that they just don’t care about anything but the next election. I don’t see how that will help them long term. The commercials practically write themselves.

Republicans need to put meat on the bone. They can’t keep saying we have better plans and then provide nothing. And, god knows, it’s not like they aren’t getting enough face time on TV. It’s that instead of using that face time to put forth their “plans” they use it to say “no!”

I’m ticked off at both Dems & Repubs. Why are we still caught up in this party against party deal? Both parties have failed us, both groups don’t pay their taxes, have scads of perks and go on to politically related jobs with exorbitant pay just because they were in Congress. Our Congress has a bunch of crooks in it playing with money they did not earn. Kick out anyone who loaded up stimulus bills and the budget with self-serving pork. That should apply to both the Democrats and the Republicans. They divert our attention from their actions by pitting us against each other in rediculous political conflicts which do not help us solve our problems but do keep them in power and rolling in our money. So there! Where’s my teabag?
