Intuitions and How We Rationalize Cheating

Filed in National by on March 17, 2009

A few weeks ago, I shared a post of behavioral economist Dan Ariely called, “Irrational Behavior”.

In the video below, Ariely talks about re-examining our intuitions about our beliefs with the understanding that others most likely have conflicting intuitions about the same set of beliefs. From our intuitions, Ariely explains how people rationalize stealing, from taking a pen home from work to stealing millions of dollars on Wall Street.

Put on your earbuds and watch.  Ariely brings it all together much better than I can explain in a paragraph and this video could well be the most productive 20 minutes of your work day. Oh yeah, I might have a new man crush.
