Hey look, Bush lied….again

Filed in National by on March 29, 2009

Shocking, he wasn’t high valued and torture doesn’t work

Moreover, within weeks of his capture, U.S. officials had gained evidence that made clear they had misjudged Abu Zubaida. President George W. Bush had publicly described him as “al-Qaeda’s chief of operations,” and other top officials called him a “trusted associate” of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden and a major figure in the planning of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. None of that was accurate, the new evidence showed.

Abu Zubaida was not even an official member of al-Qaeda, according to a portrait of the man that emerges from court documents and interviews with current and former intelligence, law enforcement and military sources. Rather, he was a “fixer” for radical Muslim ideologues, and he ended up working directly with al-Qaeda only after Sept. 11 — and that was because the United States stood ready to invade Afghanistan.

So they lied to us about him.
They tortured him and he gave us false info which all the experts have told us over and over is what happens when you torture someone.
And,the best part is by going to war with Afghanistan we created a terrorist that wasn’t one before….

In the end, though, not a single significant plot was foiled as a result of Abu Zubaida’s tortured confessions, according to former senior government officials who closely followed the interrogations. Nearly all of the leads attained through the harsh measures quickly evaporated,

Awesome!

As the experts have been telling us TORTURE DOESN’T WORK.

Next you’re going to tell me that we’ve held a bunch of innocent people without charges for years.

You know who doesn’t fuck around? The Israelis. You know who else can be found in this category? The Russians.

Both of these countries are prolific torturers, have been for decades and show no signs of stopping. The hell with what your unquoted liberal experts say – if torture didn’t work they wouldn’t be getting results from it.

  4. oh tom, tom, tom, tom….

I can tell that once again you didn’t read the article and missed the part where it said that when they tortured him it lead to false intel. I even put it in bold for you to read….

so cute when you are childlike with your ignorance 🙂

  5. Tom S. says:

I’m not addressing the article, I’m addressing the flawed argument that we shouldn’t torture people because torture doesn’t work. Torture maybe morally unacceptable but history, and successful episodes from the war on terror, have shown us again and again that executed properly, torture produces useful results.

  6. Unstable Isotope says:

Obviously Tom knows much more about interrogation than the experts at the CIA who said that torture doesn’t work. It always works on 24.

  7. Tom S. says:

Which experts? The ones that got Khalid Sheikh Mohammed with waterboarding?

  8. Tom,

What info have WE the United States received from torture that was useful?

I realize you are trying to dismiss this SOLE article. But Tom, what you fail to accept is this is the guy that BUSH, Cheney, Rummy all said was the picture perfect example that torture DOES work.

Which is the reason the article was written because….magically….that line of BS was disproven.

So again I ask you what useful intel are you talking about?

Torture has worked so well that Osama bin Laden is ……

    Oh, never mind.
