What are they hiding

Filed in National by on April 15, 2009

It looks like Joe Biden has done an about face on supporting the State Secrets bill now that he is the VP.  I just really want to know why?  What do they now know since they are able to see it?  How bad is it?  Who are they protecting?  What did Bush do that is worth protecting?  It is really discomforting to know that Obama and Joe are going to stall with this state secrets nonsense.  I just can’t imagine they are doing it to protect the country and are more so doing it to keep from having to prosecute former Bush Admin officials and creating a partisan nightmare that will drag the country down at a time when we cant afford to give the GOP something to drive the focus of the country on.

Biden Mum On State Secrets Bill He Once Supported

Et tu, Joe?

Last year, while trying to win the Democratic nomination for president, Joe Biden co-sponsored a bill to restrict the use of the “state secrets privilege” by the Department of Justice. But today, asked by the Huffington Post for Biden’s current stance on the legislation, a spokesman for the vice president replied: “No comment on this from here.” That “no comment” follows a similar tight-lipped stance from the White House itself.

The bill was reintroduced in February by Senators Leahy, Feingold, Kennedy, and Specter, in response to the Obama administration’s use of the privilege in a wiretapping case. Earlier this month, the Justice Department asserted the privilege in a second wiretapping case, provoking outrage among progressives, and prompting Feingold to again express his concern over the issue.

If they are trying to protect us from something, I wish they’d stop. What could they possibly be hiding? This just increases my suspicion that some terrible things were done in our name.

What could they possibly be hiding?

    The existence of UFO’s! LOL

Whatever they are hiding, I wish they’d stop. They are invoking this secret business too often for there to be a single smoking gun someplace that we’ll all be grateful one day that they kept away from us.

I’ve read a couple of defenses of this stance as maintaining a legal strategy while the case is going on which I guess I understand, but I certainly don’t buy. It seems that every Judge in the US would know that policy might change with a new administration and might give ongoing legal actions some downtime to let the new Administration get its ducks in a row. So I think that the only thing left to imagine is that Obama is only going to go so far in dismantling the BushCo power grab. And I really don’t think that this ought to be that big of a surprise.

They don’t want prosecute former Bush officials that are now Obama officials, ie Bill Gates.

  5. Perry says:

Or, now that Obama/Biden know the intelligence secrets, they have decided to continue the Bush practices because they now think they have worked and continue to work.

The past criticism of BushCo by the Dems has been mainly rhetoric without complete knowledge.

Then we are left with only trust in Obama/Biden. Is this any different than the trust of the Right for BushCo?

    I’m just asking!

PS: Donviti, you are asking lots of good questions on this!
