For other pointing & laughing, apparently the wingnuts are at war with each other.

  2. anon says:

Actually, he makes some good points about the Star Trek review.

  3. jason330 says:

    anon,

Actually, no he doesn’t. A review is an opinion piece. Many people will view the Bush years as a dank plodding horror that the country endured. That will effect their opinions of the art and culture of that period.

    UI,

It sounds not so much like a war, as one guy saying – “Hey we American conservatives should not hang around with and take money from European fascists.”

  4. Perry says:

Hube is chronically “pissed”, but like most of his ilk, all criticism, no solutions, as they attempt to tear this nation down piece by piece for the sake of restoring their party to power.

Instead, where is their loyal opposition?

Moreover, where indeed is their sense of accountability for their Bush years?

Answer: They are obviously both morally and politically bankrupt!!!

  6. cassandra_m says:

Is it just me, or have we seen and heard more from Dick Cheney over the past few months since the inauguration than we did in the entire 8 years he was VP?

Perry is really right about this: They are obviously both morally and politically bankrupt!!! They do know how badly damaged Bush and Cheney left us. But like someone who is behind in their subprime mortgage payments, these people are hell bent to not open the mail or answer the cluephone. They are waiting for their miracle — something that will change the facts on the ground, rather than roll up their sleeves to get something done.

  7. cassandra_m says:

You need to copyright or trademark that, VC — that is a completely hysterical keeper!

  8. jason330 says:

    Cheney…holy shit.

It is like the Captain of the Titanic survived and less than a year after the iceberg incident decided to start giving people advice about how to cross the Atlantic in ocean liners.

  9. pandora says:

Did his undisclosed location go into foreclosure? He’s been very chatty lately.

  10. Perry says:

Cheney and Rummy are supposed to be neighbors at St Michaels, MD, upon retirement from their government outrages, along with several other VIP notables:

  11. anon says:

    Jason, you ignorant slut,

My point was that he made some good points about the movie – it being a reboot and thus having a fresher feel and all.

Please don’t put words in my mouth. I did not comment on the political shit, but on the movie.

  12. jason330 says:

Poitics removed, this is Hube’s insightful insight.

Nemesis” wasn’t all that bad a Trek film.

JJ Abrams’ vision for this project was to completely reinvigorate the entire Trek franchise, seeing as how interest had waned with the “Next Generation” crew’s film adventures.

You are a tad too charitable.

  13. Von Cracker says:

    I just might, Cass!

  14. Truth teller says:

Cheney says release the other memo’s and the right wing takes up the chant. However does anyone really know if these memo,s exist?????

  15. Unstable Isotope says:

Take them up on it. Release them all!

  16. Miscreant says:

A good start would be to not* edit* information already released:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/22/us/politics/22intel.html?bl&ex=1240545600&en=ab4559dbcc4ddb83&ei=5087

“High-value information came from interrogations in which those methods were used and provided a deeper understanding of the Al Qaeda organization that was attacking this country,” Dennis C. Blair, the intelligence director, wrote to his staff last Thursday as the previously secret memos were released.

A condensed version of the Blair memo was distributed to news organizations that day without that sentence.”

  17. jason330 says:

Fast forward to the Republican Convention:

What Barry does not get is that we need more torture, not less. We need more secrecy, not less….

(Big finish) For the United States to be more safe, we need to be less United States and more North Korea!!

    And the crowd goes crazy.

  18. cassandra m says:

From that same article, Blair says he wouldn’t have approved the methods and —

“The information gained from these techniques was valuable in some instances, but there is no way of knowing whether the same information could have been obtained through other means,” Admiral Blair said in a written statement issued last night. “The bottom line is these techniques have hurt our image around the world, the damage they have done to our interests far outweighed whatever benefit they gave us and they are not essential to our national security.”

Cherry picking is not good for you.

  19. Miscreant says:

That’s exactly why I provided the link, Princess, so you could see Blair distance himself from what he had previously written. Likely after after some *advice* from Axlerod or Emmanuel.

  20. cassandra_m says:

Blair’s notation that he wouldn’t have approved torture himself came from his memo, not from the later statement.

But providing the link where you have just cherry picked the only sentence that could possible salve your conscience for brutalizing people — brutalizing people in a way we’ve prosecuted and criticized others for — doesn’t exactly excuse you from cherry picking.

But keep it up — you are in the running for Point & Laugh today!

  21. Miscreant says:

“But keep it up — you are in the running for Point & Laugh today!”

It’s early, and these grounds are fertile.

  22. Miscreant says:

If you were paying attention, the statement to which I was referring was the one that was edited by a “routine process” (Ha!), which said :

-“High-value information came from interrogations in which those methods were used and provided a deeper understanding of the Al Qaeda organization that was attacking this country,” Dennis C. Blair, the intelligence director, wrote to his staff *last Thursday* as the previously secret memos were released.

-A *condensed version* of the Blair memo was distributed to news organizations *that day* without that sentence.

-The original memo was provided to The New York Times *on Tuesday* by a critic of Mr. Obama’s policy. Wendy Morigi, a spokeswoman for Mr. Blair, said* Tuesday* that the sentence had been dropped in a routine process of shortening an internal memo into a statement for the news media.

-“Responding to a query about the fuller memo, Mr. Blair issued a statement *Tuesday evening* underscoring his support for the president’s release of…”

Admittedly, I can be dense at times, but I was commenting on his statement “underscoring his support” which appears to have been made well after the original memo to his staff.
