Hubble Mission

he U.S. space shuttle Atlantis blasted off from its Florida launch pad on Monday on an 11-day mission to repair the Hubble Space Telescope, an important tool for scientists probing the origins of the universe.

Atlantis carried a seven-member crew that was scheduled to perform five spacewalks to install and repair instruments and replace positioning gyroscopes on the telescope, which orbits 350 miles above Earth.

The Hubble Telescope is an example of some of the finest science performed by NASA. I’m glad Hubble will not become another piece of space junk. A new telescope is planned in a few years, but I can’t imagine years without our eye in the sky. There are many more images located at the Hubble gallery.
