There’s been a lot of talk over taking people at their word, and when it comes to words no one is better at hijacking them then Conservatives. Patriot springs to mind, as does family values, life, Judeo-Christian laws, regiment, battle, defense of marriage, and take back America. Let’s just say when I stumble on a site featuring these words I know exactly what I’m getting.
Branding is something the Republican Party excels, and has worked for them in the past. Unfortunately, times have changed – Not that the GOP has noticed.
A member of the Republican National Committee told me Tuesday that when the RNC meets in an extraordinary special session next week, it will approve a resolution rebranding Democrats as the “Democrat Socialist Party.”
What they expect to accomplish with this stunt is beyond me, but hey, given that labeling Obama a socialist last fall worked so well for them…
The biggest problem for Republicans/Conservatives is not that they haven’t branded or rebranded enough words, it’s that words without substance are just… words.
