Man oh man I hate gmail. It rolls all related emails into “conversations” and whenever there are multiple people involved in a “conversation” it becomes and unreadable mishmash of disjointed correspondence.

It is a mess.
G-mail is da bomb! It is free, easy, intuitive, has lots of space and has powerful editing, themes and options.
LOVE IT and LOVE the threading!
I use Thunderbird with my Gmail for that reason. I only access the web version to update my spam filters or if I am away from the home PC.
I agree Brian, the web interface for Gmail can be a bit confusing
