How about this for a follow up to Cassandra’s post “How You Make A Trillion Dollar Deficit” – here is Karl Rove from an interview with Greta Von Susteren.
“This is a cosmetic gesture. This guy is going to run up a $1.8 trillion deficit. That’s what it’s projected to be this year,” Rove complained. But when host Greta Van Susteren asked if the Bush administration is responsible for any of the deficit, Rove replied, “No.”:
VAN SUSTEREN: Do you take some responsibility, meaning you, the Bush eight years, for this…
ROVE: No.
VAN SUSTEREN: You take absolutely no responsibility? Because…
ROVE: No.

Alternate reality indeed.
Rove thought he could get to his permanent GOP majority with a no-tax and spend policy. The spending, of course, a pretty old school way to show your various constituents that you know how to take care of them.
The lesson is that for all of the chest beating and criticism of big government and big spending, they didn’t have the balls to govern small. Too many people get pissed off without their services and subsidies. They have the balls to get on TV and bitch and complain and make shit up, but they can’t govern in accordance with their so-called “principles” worth a damn.
I assume folks on this site will be blaming George Bush for years for everything.
Here is the reality of it all. President Obama is President, he is responsible for everything which happens or fails to happen under his command during his term.
The deficit is his and his alone. He can cut spending or he can raise taxes or a bit of both. Quite the contrary, he has increased spending to astronomical levels and failed to understand the difference between investment and consumption.
File this under refusal of Dems to assume responsibility for anything.
