The news nobody watches is going off the air. (Jim Soles is their “go to” political analyst. ’nuff said).

Republicans still don’t get it. I heard Mike Castle’s buddy, John Boehner trucking out this talking point to take on Obama’s financial industry reforms:

We could see a situation where government ties the bank’s hands and even adjusts interests rates. (paraphrase)

Has Frank Luntz lost a step or what? Earth to the GOP “the government” is….oh never mind.

Toast with butter and cherry jelly is pretty good for breakfast, but it probably is not much healthier than a donut.

What’s on your plate?

    Yes they do;

    If you knew that baseball teams with winning records tended to be more profitable for their owners than those with losing records – and if you learned that the Baltimore Orioles had just been purchased by the major league umpire’s union, would you expect the Orioles to win more or fewer games? Almost everyone implicitly understands why the umpires should not be allowed to own teams they referee.

    In a free-market economic system, the government is supposed to be the referee and not a player. Its job is to set and enforce the rules, but if it is allowed to also become a player, by owning and managing business enterprises, it is unlikely to treat the competing companies fairly, and there will be little check on its own misbehavior. Congress is now debating whether the U.S. government will create its own national health provider. The government is now the majority owner of the nation’s biggest automobile manufacturer (General Motors Corp.), the biggest bank (Citigroup Inc.), and the biggest insurance company (American International Group Inc.). The record of government ownership and/or control of companies in the United States and elsewhere has been one long disaster. ….R. Rahn

    Yesterday, I thought I heard Jim Boehner say, “If you want to support the troops, bring the home.”

    The lack of shame that the Republican leaders never ceases to astound me.

  3. nemski says:

    LOL callerRick. The US gov’t is already a national health provider.

    BTW, the analogy is false. Umpires don’t run MLB, the owners do. Umpires don’t make the rules, the owners do.

    Look at what MLB did with the Expos when they were having difficulties — they purchased them.

    No they don’t. But if you think the voters will agree with you that bankers are the good guys and government regulators are the bad guy – more power to you.

    Please work hard and donate lots of money to push that talking point. I implore you.
