Important Day In Iran

Filed in National by on June 20, 2009

Today there is a planned demonstration in Iran despite the warnings of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khameini. There could be great bloodshed. Our thoughts go out to the people of Iran. I hope this situation can be resolved peacefully. For live updates of what’s going on in Iran, check out Andrew Sullivan and Nico Pitney’s Huffington Post liveblog.

Update: Reports of clashes and use of teargas are being reported.

too bad no one in our govt will speak up…

My thoughts and best wishes go out to the brave Iranians who stand up for their principles against tyrants and dictators.

Tom S “too bad no one in our govt will speak up…”

Obama did stand up, saying “The world is watching!”

And Tom S, the neocons have also stood up, stood up to undermine Obama’s approach. You neocons have already caused tons of problems, with your axis of evil and war-waging approaches, but have not yet learned your lessons.

Has it occurred to you neocons, Tom S, that taking sides will empower Ahmadinejad & Co, exactly the opposite of what we should be doing? Obviously, you folks admire like-minded tyrants and dictators!

Yeah, Tom just what the regimes needs, pin this on the great imperial satan. Good armchair QBing.

Gov’t bombed Komenei shrine and blamed reformer oposition. Classic fascist move. Just like the Reichstag in ’33.

I’ve been green all week and will wear green today and tonight.

Unlike the US, some people stand up in the face of bullshit. Compelling.

  5. Perry says:

There’s a difference between individual American’s expressions and those of our government, Dorian!

  6. Dorian Gray says:

Perry – I don’t even know what that means. Of course there’s a difference to us, but not to Iran regime. What are you arguing or responding to? State TV in Tehran already mistranslated Obama’s comments of last night into Farsi saying he “supports the protesters and they should keep protesting”. This regime with will try to pin anything on the US, UK or Israel. Let’s not make it easy for them.

  7. Tom S says:

got it…can’t we all just get along?…the world is watching…cripes
