Maybe the world is clamoring for a french fry vending machine…

Filed in Delaware by on July 29, 2009 27 Comments

This industry write up says that people in the industry regard the fench fry cooking vending machine the “vending-machine equivalent of the Holy Grail.” I’ll file this in the “What do I know?” category. “That’s the main problem: You can’t immerse a frozen french fry in hot oil” without inviting a host of technical difficulties, […]

GOP Earns Worst-Ever Rating in Fox Poll

Filed in National by on July 29, 2009 7 Comments

Mydd’s Johnathan Singer reports… I’m shocked — shocked — that this finding doesn’t make it into the Fox News write up of its own polling, but the latest survey commissioned by the conservative news outlet finds that the Republican Party is at an all-time low in terms of popularity. Per the poll (.pdf), the GOP’s favorability rating […]

UPDATED: Of Cops and Recovery Funds

Yesterday, VP Joe Biden traveled to Philly to announce the awardees of grants from the Recovery bill designed to bolster funding for law enforcement in states, counties and cities. These funds, as I understand it, are meant to be a backstop for governments facing cuts in law enforcement due to budget shortfalls. Delaware was awarded $5M in these grants yesterday. UPDATED with info from a Community Advisory from the mayor’s office.

Filed in National by on July 29, 2009 63 Comments

Talk about scare tactics and preying on the elderly. Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX): We’ve been battling this socialist health care, the nationalization of health care, that is going to absolutely kill senior citizens. They’ll put them on lists and force them to die early because they won’t get the treatment as early as they need. […]

El Somnambulo’s article on the Caesar Rodney Institute, while answering many of the questions he had going in, have raised several more. ‘Bulo’s favorite Geezer wrote: If all these people being Republicans were no big deal, Republicans wouldn’t be all worked up over El Som pointing that out, would they? While The Beast Who Slumbers […]

Jon Stewart Destroys Bill Kristol On Healthcare

Filed in National by on July 28, 2009 8 Comments

Jon Stewart gets Bill Kristol to admit the the VA system is an exceptional healthcare system but that the rest of Americans don’t deserve it. Kristol gets caught up in the typical GOP talking point trap of “government run healthcare is really awful but it’s so good that private insurance can’t compete.” Republicans are just incoherent on this issue. At least he wasn’t repeating the Faux News talking point that Barack Obama wants to kill your grandmother.
