Good News Thread

Filed in Delaware by on August 12, 2009

I had about 15 tabs open this afternoon of various depressing, violent, racist teabagger stories. But frankly, I’m getting sick of hearing about this stuff already (although it’s important to know what’s going on). So I thought I’d do something different – this thread is for good news only. Feel free to put links and stories big or small about good news.

Let’s see – I’ll start. Yesterday was my birthday so we went to Rehoboth Beach for the day on Monday. I went shopping and got all kinds of good bargains (including a Kate Spade bag that I’d been wanting). I’m getting ready to travel to Pittsburgh for Netroots Nation tomorrow and I’m looking forward to it.

Anyone feel like sharing?

Why would Netroots Nation meet in Pittsburgh?

But HAPPY BIRTHDAY and enjoy the bag!!!!

  2. Thank you for the offer.

Would the gang at Delaware Liberal be available to join other citizens who want to rally outside our elected officials Wilmington offices to demand they meet us and explain their health care position?

What do you say? Regardless of what you want in the end, shouldn’t we hear from them?

    A little sidewalk rally?

It was Wise Latina Day (and the Bronx was in the house — love the audience reactions in this, altho the video quality is crappy) at the White House. Congratulations again, Justice Sotomayor!

According to Obama the Doctors would prefer to amputate the limb rather than treat the wound. Reimbursable fees are higher for a amputation you know.

    link please????

Are you going to provide a link and source? It seems you are pretty adamant you know something we don’t. Please show me where you got your info. I’m very curious to see it.

  5. Joanne, I have no idea why it’s in Pittsburgh. I’m just glad it’s within driving distance.

Hey DV, the one time he has a non-partisan legitimate post, you rail on him. It really does belong in a good news blog.

JC and UI… it is in Pittsburgh for two reasons: 1) it was the East Coast’s turn to host (Las Vegas in 06, Chicago in 07, and Austin in 08) and 2) it was the most affordable convention venue other than Baltimore on the East Coast. I would have preferred Baltimore, but meh, I can’t go anyway. Too much work at work.

Wow. Great quote from that article:

“Let them kill us,” said Sheik Khudair al-Allawi, the imam of a mosque bombed recently. “It’s a waste of their time. The sectarian card is an old card and no one is going to play it anymore. We know what they want, and we’ll just be patient. But they will all go to hell.”

  9. lol, ok smitty. I agree we shouldn’t keep MP accountable. Let him off the hook, make comments, leave and go to another post to make a point.

  10. Here’s a story about Warwick, a boy who was given no chance to live.

Sorry about that, Brack. When you post 2 or more links in a comment, WordPress moderates it, thinking that it is spam.

Huh? Do you think I’d ever come to his defense? Really? Whatever you had yesterday, think you can share? Don’t know what you saw, but “Phil” ain’t me, never has been me, never will be me.
