Wagner Will Not Seek a Rematch

Filed in Delaware by on October 15, 2009

Delaware Politics is reporting that former State Representative Nancy Wagner (R) will not be seeking a rematch with Rep. Daryll Scott in the 31st RD in 2010. Scott defeated the longtime incumbent Wagner 53% to 47% in 2008. According to our friends at Delaware Politics, former Levy Court Commissioner Ron Smith will challenge Scott, and former Dover Mayors Jim Hutchison and Steve Speed, as well as current Dover Councilman and Councilwoman, Tom Leary and Beth Williams, are interested in the race.

  1. Don’t for get Ron Poliquin who challenged Jack Markell for Treasurer as a party sacrifice. He is back for a real shot at office. I think the race will come down to Poliquin and Smith both of whom already have 5 figures in the bank for the race. Mayor Hutchison may be tempted to get into the race counting on his popularity to pull him over a third of the vote. If he does, I doubt the rest will try. There won’t be enough oxygen for more than 3 in that particular race.
