Mike Castle, He’s Talking About You
Representative Anthony Weiner (D-NY9) has been a real hero in the fight for health care reform. Mike Castle, are you willing to give up your Medicare?

I assume those over-65 folks are still enrolled in their Federal employee health care, which probably requires them to take all their Medicare benefits first.
Unless I am wrong, I think all private plans are the same as well – if you are eligible for Medicare and don’t take it, your private plan won’t pay.
Not to mention that the law makes enrollment of part a mandatory.

Fascists!
Right here you can see part of the problem. We’re being represented and governed by a bunch of old people. How can America move into the next century when our government is rooted in the last? These guys don’t care about the future because they don’t have one — at least not much of one. It makes a big difference in your perspective if you are just hanging on to what you got. Not to mention that, after a certain age, you are just plain tired and probably pretty cynical.
LOL. Mike Castle, as a Congressman, is powerless over the forces of big government. I expect him to give up his Medicare and supplemental and buy his insurance on the individual market like a good freedom-loving American.
Good news – Mike Castle is now on Twitter!
I am for a public option and if it’s not passed with this legislation make sure DL to join me in demanding Obama not sign it. Obama would be a sellout to the people isf he signed healthcare reform legislation without.
To my knowledge, Mike Castle did not chair one committee when the Republicans controlled the House of Representatives. I am not aware of any major piece of legislation that he managed. He voted to impeach President Clinton. More recently, he voted against the stimulus bill. We should carefully examine Castle’s record. What does he have to show for all his years in the House of Representatives? He showed his style of moderation by voting for the likes of Newt Gingrich to be Speaker of the House and voting to impeach President Clinton. He should be judged not by his age, although that is a factor in someone who is running to serve as junior senator, but by his legislative record.

I believe you are incorrect. I’m pretty certain he chaired Fincance or whatever committee was responsible for the State Quarters program. I have no idea if there were others, but I’m pretty certain about that one.
So, socialism saved ol’Strokey McStrokes when his brain popped a few years ago?
I thought socialized medicine killed people, especially old ones. He went to John Hopkins. Hmm.
And he voted against stimulus… to, you know, keep Medicaid running and keep states from, you know, bankrupting. But they’re poor people, so fuck em. They’re not Benjamin Franklin’s Grandson, or whatever.
Ahhh… this election is going to be so much fun!
Interesting. But since neither the News Journal nor Allan Loudel ever mention facts (such as Castle’s voting record) in any news story or editorial – I doubt that this fact will leak from the blogs to the general public. It is all about personality for our local media and Mike Castle is a nice guy. That’s the story now and forever.

Sheezus, dude. I’ll help Loudell get a restraining order against you.
BTW, JustTheFacts, while whistling your tune, did actually get a “fact” incorrect right off the bat, so be weary of wear you hang your hat.
Have you heard him sucking up to Castle? He never brings Castle’s voting record. I’m no longer in the prediction biz, but Strokey’s little secret leaks out of blogdom – I’ll be really really really really surprised.
“I am not aware of any major piece of legislation that he managed. ”
DeGette-Castle. The stem cell bill.
Next?
He was the one who forged the compromise on NCLB. I am not a big fan, but it was a major accomplishment. Technically the person who said he did not chair a committee was correct. That is not unusual in the house because there are so many members and few committees. He has chaired sub committees.
The No Child Left Behind Act was sponsored by Representative John Boehner, currently Republican leader in the House of Representatives. Mike Castle was one of many sponsors, and the bill had overwhelming bipartisan support in the House. I do not think his support or vote was crucial. He did chair several subcommittees, but give his length of service in the House, it is reasonable to expect that he would have played some leadership role. By any measure, he has been undistinguished as a member of the House of Representatives. Surely this should be a factor in considering him for a Senate seat.

Also, he did not manage the stem cell act of 2007. By 2007, the Democrats had a majority in the House, and the bill was managed by Diana DaGette (D,CO). Mike Castle was a cosponsor and one of a minority of Republicans who supported the bill. On the other hand, it had considerable Republican support in the Senate, including Orrin Hatch.
No one is their right mind would switch from the government’s medicare coverage to private insurance. That’s all you need to know.
