I’m honestly not sure. Given all the lunacy spewing out of Republican mouths this comment may not be just a throw-away.
Host Chris Wallace pointed out that former Vice President Dick Cheney did not bow to the emperor when he visited Japan. (He did not elaborate on how this difference in greeting affected American policy or foreign relations.)
“You could … look at the comparison and think, Cheney 2012,” Liz Cheney said.
The bowing to the emperor is obviously the latest outrage. It ranks right up there with “Michelle Obama touched the queen!” Honestly, are they for or against protocol?
But this little gem of Cheney running for President has caused me pause. Are they really that desperate? Would they actually run a guy that the majority of Americans dislike? If Bush ever became depressed over his approval ratings he only had to look at Cheney’s to feel better. Talk about a consensus. I’ve also reached the conclusion, through experience, that Republicans don’t do throw-away lines. If they utter the ridiculous, everyone should pay attention.
