An End To An Era
After 25 years, Oprah Winfrey is ending her talk show: This afternoon, Tim Bennett, president of Winfrey’s Harpo production house, announced that the media mogul will step off the “Oprah” set in September 2011. He said Winfrey will confirm the news on Friday’s edition of her show. “The Oprah Winfrey Show” will not move on […]
Scott Spencer’s “Silly” Altruism
Scott Spencer, a Democratic candidate for the open Congressional seat, is donating 10% of his campaign fundraising to the Food Bank of Delaware, and he is challenging all other statewide candidates to do the same, whether it be to the Food Bank of Delaware or another charity of their choosing. If you support and vote for candidates that pledge to do more for our common good, Scott Spencer’s gesture is altruistic. If greed is your primary motivation in supporting and voting for candidates, then surely this gesture by Mr. Spencer is silly.
What a Wuss! Giuliani Decides Against Run for Guv
Mr. Verb Noun 9-One-One has decided that the one thing he fears more than terrorists is–losing. The New York Times reports that Bernie Kerik’s best bud will not run for Governor. Why?: It was not clear what prompted the decision, but the prospect of potentially facing Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo, who is quietly planning […]
Neoconservatives rail against Eritrean dictator Isaias Afewerki
Hah, just kidding. Neocons don’t even know where Eritrea is. Afewerki announced in May 2008 that elections would be postponed for “three or four decades” or longer because they “polarize society.” All forms of media are controlled by the government. At least 10 local journalists remain in prison since their arrests in 2001. (Link: Parade) […]

Delaware’s Department of Correction is under Federal court order to fix a broken prison health care system. The alleged wonders of privatization have once again been exposed for what they are–private profit at taxpayers’ (and consumers’) expense. The proposed solution? Break down the large failed bureaucracy into ten smaller bureaucracies, according to today’s News-Journal: Rather […]
Which Religion Is This?
I’m glad that Republicans are treating the health care debate with the seriousness that it deserves: Republicans have vowed to fight the legislation at every turn, saying it represents a dangerous expansion in the role of government that would increase taxes and insurance costs for millions of people. “It’s going to be a holy war,” […]

NY-23: Fighting The Forces Of Evil
Everyone thought the drama of the NY-23 special election was over after Doug Hoffman conceded the race and Bill Owens was sworn in. Bill Owens even got to vote for health care reform. However, an election recanvass found that Hoffman’s votes were dramatically undercounted in one counting, cutting Owen’s lead from 5000 votes to 3000 […]
