The Birther Queen.

Mover over Orly Talitz. Big Momma is taking over.

Sarah Palin declared on Thursday that the legitimacy of President Obama’s birth certificate is “rightfully” an issue with the American public, and that it is “fair game” for politicians to question Obama’s citizenship.

The comments came during an interview with conservative radio host Rusty Humphries, who asked Palin whether she planned to “make the birth certificate an issue” if she runs for president in 2012.

“I think the public rightfully is still making it an issue,” Palin said. “I don’t have a problem with that. I don’t know if I would have to bother to make it an issue, because I think that members of the electorate still want answers.”

“I think it’s a fair question just like I think past associations and past voting records. All of that is fair game,” Palin responded, adding that “the McCain-Palin campaign didn’t do a good enough job in that area. We didn’t call out Obama and some of his associates on their records and what their beliefs were, and perhaps what their future plans were, and I don’t think that was fair to voters to not have done our job as candidates and a campaign to bring to light a lot of things that now we’re seeing manifest in the administration.”

Palin later referenced “that weird conspiracy theory freaky thing that people talk about that Trig isn’t my real son, and a lot of people that went ‘Well, you need to produce his birth certificate, you need to prove that he’s your kid,’ which we have done, but yeah, so maybe we can reverse that, and use the same [inaudible] thinking on the other one.”

So it was reasonable to ask Sarah for Trig’s birth certificate? I thought all that Andrew Sullivan inspired hoopla was contrived and bullshit, but if Sarah says that everything is fair game, and analogizes the alleged “controversy” (I put quotations here because this never made it to the mainstream media and onto the House and Senate floor the way the Birther nonsense has) to the Birther controversy, then yes, I want Sarah Palin to submit to a medical examination to determine if she truly is the mother of Trig. I want DNA tests performed. I want Bristol Palin examined as well.

For if the Birther conspiracy theories are fair game, and are analogous to the “controversy” over Trig’s birth, then what is good for the goose is good for the gander. Get in the stirrups Sarah and prove it.

And no, I am not serious, and I doubt that Sarah Palin is serious either. She is pandering to her whackjob base who believe she is a messiah. (Ironic, no?) And notice that she calls the “Trig Birth” story a “weird conspiracy freak thing” and yet analogizes that to the Birther conspiracy theory. If she were capable of higher logical thought (and she is not), she would realize that if it is a weird conspiracy freak thing to demand Trig’s birth certificate, then it is a weird conspiracy freak thing to demand Obama’s. In essence, she wants the Birther’s votes, and she is pandering to them, but she just called them freaks, if she were capable of logical thought, but she is not.

And I am sure the insult will fly over the heads of the Birthers too, since they collectively possess the intelligence of a pea.

Here is something I just found that proves that Barack Obama is a better human being and a better Christian than Sarah Palin will ever be. When Sarah Palin was just announced for Vice President, and it was revealed that Bristol was pregnant, and Andrew Sullivan was advancing his conspiracy theory that Trig Palin was actually Bristols, this is what a then Senator Obama had to say:

Senator Barack Obama, the Democratic nominee, was asked at a brief press conference in Monroe, Mich., about the suggestion by some Republicans that Democrats — particularly liberal bloggers — were trying to advance rumors about the Palin family.

“Our people were not involved in any way in this and they will not be,” Mr. Obama snapped, his voice raised. “And if I ever thought there was somebody in my campaign that was involved in something like that, they’d be fired, O.K.?”

Mr. Obama said the pregnancy “has no relevance to Governor Palin’s performance as a governor or her potential performance as a vice president.” He added that, “my mother had me when she was 18. How a family deals with issues and teen-age children — that shouldn’t be the topic of our politics.”

“So,” he added, “I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories.”

Too bad Sarah Palin could not return that act of kindness.

Palin plays her base well – which is kinda like a parent beating their three year old at Monopoly. Nuance and logic are wasted on the birther set. What they’ll take away from this is that questioning Obama’s citizenship is justified and that Sarah Palin was persecuted by outlandish lies.

Personally, I found the Trig story unsavory, and said so at the time. That said, Republicans hoping to run for office can’t afford to alienate the crazies, I… um… mean, their base.

  3. A. price says:

DD, i think you’re confusing kindness with basic human decency. SOmething Sarah Palin proves over and over she lacks.

  4. cassandra_m says:

    A. Price is right — the lack is in basic human decency.

But she does know how to get a camera pointed at her and I suppose the next phase in collecting up $24.95 from as many of the gullible as possible is to get on the Birther Train.

  5. Apparently Palin has already retracted on her FB page.

Speaking of cameras – did you hear that Palin is not allowing her fans to take pictures with her for free? She’s not allowing cameras, instead she has her own photographer and people who want their picture with her have to pay $9.95 on her webpage to get it.

I don’t think there’s anything to the Trig story either.

  6. Delaware Dem says:

Too late. We must not allow Palin to whink and nod on a right wing talk show where they literally sang songs about her to her, and then have her go on Facebook and deny it.

Sarah Palin is now a birther, and she will live with it until the day she dies.

  7. Palin’s statement:

    Stupid Conspiracies

Voters have every right to ask candidates for information if they so choose. I’ve pointed out that it was seemingly fair game during the 2008 election for many on the left to badger my doctor and lawyer for proof that Trig is in fact my child. Conspiracy-minded reporters and voters had a right to ask… which they have repeatedly. But at no point – not during the campaign, and not during recent interviews – have I asked the president to produce his birth certificate or suggested that he was not born in the United States.

I predict that no one will craft a better and more apt description anywhere on this blog all day.

    OK if I steal it?

  9. I think Palin knows that the birther craze is over and any politician professing to be one will have absolutely no chance of becoming president.

  10. pandora says:

    Steal away, El Som!

UI, the craze may be ebbing, but the crazy is growing. And while I agree that the birther thing may hurt any chance of becoming President, they’ll need it – and the votes that come with it – during the primary. 2012 may be the year where Republican primary hopefuls run right off the cliff.

  11. Rebecca says:

The money guys who actually own the Republican party can’t, won’t, don’t care to, get into the fray with Palin three years out from a nominating convention. However, don’t be dreaming of a Palin ticket in 2012. The money guys know she’s a loose cannon whom they cannot control. They will never let it happen. Just sayin.

  12. Delaware Dem says:

Well, Rebecca, I disagree. I see a possibility where they will allow her nomination as a sacrificial lamb should Obama appear to be in excellent position for reelection, just so they cleanse the party of her once and for all. If it is a competitive race, then I agree, the establishment will not allow her to be the nominee. We’ll get Romney.

Right now, I see a Palin nomination in 2012 as a 50/50 chance.

  13. Rebecca says:

Good point DD. If Obama is looking like a landslide hero this might be a useful strategy. But what are the odds of that happening? The independent voters are going to vote the economy; they don’t do ideology, just prosperity. I trust Krugman on this and the prospects look pretty bleak right now.

  14. ‘Bulo, the crazy is growing the in the birther ranks because only the crazy is left there.

  15. Brooke says:

I’ll tell you straight up, she didn’t give birth to that baby. And she’s never produced a birth certificate, so I don’t know what that’s about.

I’ll be happy to chat with anyone about the details, lol, although I know it embarrasses people on the left. I gave birth to 5 children…it’s one of my areas of expertise, and what she says happened didn’t.

I completely respect the president for not getting into it. That’s appropriate. But I’m a mom and her lies around this offend me more than just about anything in my adult life.

  16. nemski says:

pandora wrote Palin plays her base well – which is kinda like a parent beating their three year old at Monopoly.

    Still laughing.

  17. a.price says:

I predict palin will run in 2012 with or without the republican nomination. She has already backed Conservative party candidates and attended Tea(bag) Party conventions. And the wench has a history of …. i can’t believe im saying it…. going rouge. I bet she hijacks the crazy right wing base and Obama takes 80% of the electoral votes

  19. xstryker says:

Also, calling her the “Birther Queen” causes me to picture the egg-chamber room from Aliens. I think someone should photoshop this.

  20. a.price says:

Funny she is now called that (by everyone because i like the way it sounds) seeing as she has only given birth to 2 children. the rest were Trap’s (or whatever) and Bristols… that they had together..because the Palins are white trash.

  21. Delaware Dem says:

    X….

I instead picture the Borg Queen.
