Rush Limbaugh Praises Health Care Reform, Unionized Hospitals

Filed in National by on January 5, 2010

Over the Christmas holiday, Rush Limbaugh was rushed to the hospital in Hawai’i because of chest pains. He praised the treatment he got there:

“Based on what happened to me here, I don’t think there is one thing wrong with the American health care system. It is working just fine, just dandy.”

The SEIU points out that Rush Limbaugh is praising Hawai’i’s progressive health care reform and the Queen’s Medical Center’s unionized nursing staff.

1. Hawaii is a shining example of progressive health care reform. In fact, Hawaii is so forward-thinking that the Senate bill excludes Hawaii from some of its provisions, because Hawaii’s requirements on employers go farther than the federal legislation.

Since 1974, Hawaii has required all employers to provide quality health care benefits to any employee who works 20 hours a week or more. Because of Hawaii’s increased coverage, reports the New York Times, “hospital and insurance executives in Hawaii say they have been able to innovate efficiencies. For instance, the state’s top three medical providers are adopting electronic medical records — years ahead of most mainland counterparts.”

One reporter noted “the medical system in Hawaii is as close to socialized medicine as there is in the United States, and, much of the Democrats reform bill is based in the Hawaii system.”

2. Limbaugh stayed at Queen’s Medical Center, where nursing staff are represented by the Hawaii Nurses’ Association (read: a labor union). The nurses at Queen’s are protected by their contract, which adheres to the ANA’s safe-staffing principles guaranteeing appropriate staffing levels for any patient care unit.

Thanks Rush!

does anyone really think the RighTaliban Wing will recognize those facts? NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Rush was happy with an American hospital, and if Obamacare passes, Bill Ayers will personally dress up like the Joker in a nurse’s outfit and blow up the very hospital where Jesus was born somewhere in Kansas.

I’m confused regarding Rush’s stay in an Hawaiian(?) hospital and his subsequent approval of medical care there.

In the Conservative mind, isn’t Hawaii a foreign land? So his praise was praise for a foreign country’s medical system?

  3. Von Cracker says:

Shit, the health care in Mozambique’s great if you make 33 mil a year.

Eff him, hope he goes gout.

  4. Wasn’t the great intellectual Cokie Roberts who said Hawai’i is exotic and seems foreign.

  5. Von Cracker says:

It’s the conservative East Coast bias.

Hawaii is as far as NYC, if you live on the west coast.

What’s that saying about opening your mouth and dispelling all doubt, Cokie-head?

If I made $33million a year like Rushbo, I would have the best health care in the world too! What a flaming hypocrite. On WDEL right now, our dear Senator Kaufman obviously doesnt support the public option or single payer, and instead says, “Talk to Tom Carper HE is an expert on this issue”. Tom Carpetbagger, corporate whore to the insurance companies is an expert speaking on behalf of the people. Senator Kaufman do you have any ideas of your own? Of just passin off the status quo. While he admitted that our health care costs will rise to $22,000 in 2016 (I believe he said) he doesnt support any real reform? Damn Ted you been in DC too damn long.

Afganistan is like “a political campaign” Senator. The afganis hate the corrupt government, and the hate the fundamentalist taliban. We need 600,000 troops Senator? We need 2,000,000 soldiers in Yemen? Are you ready to call for a draft yet, Ted? Obviously, Ted didnt get the Afgani soldier memo, “they are all drug addicted, and run from a fight”, there is no way the US can train these guys in 50 years. Ted wise up and tell us the truth. We have other sources other than yours and the corporate media.
