Psst! Your Shallow Bench is Showing

Filed in Delaware by on February 20, 2010

Potential Republican Congressional candidate, Anthony Wedo dropped out of the race Friday.  I believe that this leaves only Fred Cullis, the guy who had a half dozen people (mostly family and volunteers) at his announcement.  They really have no one.

I asked Charlie Copeland if he was running and he was pretty clear that he wasn’t, but who else is there?

I don’t feel sorry for them one bit.

  1. Actually it leaves 4 candidates, 3 of whom are serious contenders, Fred Cullis, Kevin Wade, and Glen Urquhart.

  2. Rose Izzo– I have heard three of the candidates and I hope to hear her Friday with the others. Why don’t you come and meet all of them at the Newark Senior Center on Friday February 26, 2010 the time is 6:30 pm. The address is 200 White Chapel Drive in Newark, DE (19713). I would love to meet you.

Kevin Wade a serious candidate? He makes Scott Spencer look like Jay Rockefeller.

There is no bench because the GOP does not want a bench. they want to pull strings to make sure OFG, Only from Greenville keeps going. Think about the candidates the GOP has nominated in the last 3-4 cycles. Ting, Odonnell, Lee, Ursomarso, Burris, Rochford, Copeland. WTF?

What do they all have in common? Losing by at least 20%. Most cases by a lot more.

In the Congress race I have said all along you need someone with name ID from the start and none of the people running now have it, Cullis, Wade, Urqhart or Izzo? Are you kidding me?

All along I said Copeland or Protack. Copeland badly misjudged himself in 2008 giving up a safe state senate seat to get whipped badly by Denn and don’t buy that garbage about carrying the ticket for Lee. Copeland knowingly jumped in and got smashed, he might be able to revive his career? You at DL attack Protack but he is the guy who debated with Markell and Carney and held his own with them but got overrun by the lemmings who call themselves GOP delegates and GOP primary voters. Plus Protack has the liberal views on unions, health care and the environment us conservatives don’t hold.

If the GOP had a leader and Ross is not it. He was a failure as county council candidate against Rich Abbott, as County Co Chair and when he was our Chairman in Wilmington now he is a failure as state chair. A real leader would have reached out. Ross always talks about how great Castle is (he isn’t) because Castle appeals to Delaware’s liberal/Democrat feelings. So does Protack. He lost to the Judge twice, big deal and would have beaten liberal Ting if not for Crazy Christine. He may not be my cup of tea but Cullis, Urqhart, Wade, Izzo are at 5% name ID at best.

The other bench question is Michael Fleming, the ultimate GOP opportunist. Does he keep up with the game of press releases but no county candidates? Does he have any at all who can win? Did I mention he worked for Bill Roth?

Del Patriot makes the case made over here in for a long time… The only downfall to his argument, is that after losing the last primary, Protack realized he couldn’t beat the stupids of his party, and said some really stupid things in order to sound like Wayne Smith.

    That was so fakey.

The “old” Mike Protack should primary old Mike Castle… Who says Mike Castle represents the Republican party?
