BREAKING: House Democrats Release HCR Bill

Late last night the House Budge Committee released the legislation that will serve as the basis for debate this week. Note this is the same legislation that made it through the Education and Labor Committee and Ways and Means Committee last year.

  2. Don’t get too excited about the text of the bill yet. It’s basically the former House bill. The mark-up begins today and they will strip the language from the bill and replace it with the reconciliation bill. I don’t think we’ll know exactly what it looks like until today at the earliest.

    Did the House just release its reconciliation package?
    Nope. The bill on the House Budget Committee’s web site that’s being called the reconciliation bill is not the reconciliation bill, or at least not what people mean when they talk about the reconciliation bill. It’s the bill that will become the reconciliation bill. You see this occasionally in the House and Senate, where the oddities of the rules occasionally make it useful to put a new bill in the hollowed-out shell of an old bill.
