Fox’s Newest Media Star

Sarah Palin’s new Fox show is having a spectacular flame-out before she’s even begun her first show. Her show was supposed to feature inspirational stories of Americans and is called “Real American Stories.”

Rapper LL Cool J hit back at reports Tuesday that seemed to imply a one-on-one sitdown with conservative media darling Sarah Palin, accusing the Fox News network of “lifting” an old interview for its own promotional purposes.

“Fox lifted an old interview I gave in 2008 to someone else & are misrepresenting to the public in order to promote Sarah Palins Show. WOW,” the rapper wrote on his Twitter feed.

So, Fox tried to play this off as a little dispute between LL Cool J and Fox News, and even put out a snarky/rude statement:

A Fox spokesperson told TV Newser LL Cool J will be cut from the show.

“Real American Stories features uplifting tales about overcoming adversity and we believe Mr. Smith’s interview fit that criteria.” the spokesperson said. “However, as it appears that Mr. Smith does not want to be associated with a program that could serve as an inspiration to others, we are cutting his interview from the special and wish him the best with his fledgling acting career.”

Country singer Toby Keith threw cold water all over Fox by saying that he, too, was not interviewed by Palin:

Keith, a registered Democrat, also said he was unaware that he was appearing on the show.

“We were never contacted by Fox,” his rep tells Hitfix.”I have no idea what interview it’s taken from. They’re promoting this like it’s a brand new interview. He never sat down with Sarah Palin.”

Does Sarah Palin ever do any real work? She doesn’t write her own books and apparently doesn’t even work on her own show. She’s just a talking head in between pre-taped interviews. I wonder if Fox planned on cutting in shots of Sarah nodding and pretending to do the interviews.

    I want her gig, seriously.

  2. anon says:

Palin seems to keep getting owned by entertainers like Toby Keith, LL Cool J, and Katie Couric.

  3. Scott P says:

Eventually she’ll be down to just interviewing FOX personalities, Ted Nugent, Chuck Norris, and maybe Bristol. Of course, we all know she’ll just do a few episodes, then quit so she can devote herself full-time to the Twitter and Facebooks.

Palin to interview Sean Hannity…? Clusterfucktastic!!!!

  5. Scott, I’ve been saying for a while that Fox was turning into a place where the hosts just interview each other. That’s probably what the fans want anyway.

  6. delacrat says:

Liberals laughed when Palin said “drill, baby, drill”.

Now that Obama wants to “drill, baby, drill” off our eastern seaboard, why aren’t liberals laughing at Obama ?

  7. Scott P says:

Hey, FOX represents a wide range of ideological positions, all the way from the Right to the Far Right. Kind of reminds me of the line from the “Blues Brothers”:
“What kind of music do you usually have here, ma’am?
“Oh, we got both kinds — Country and Western!”

  8. nemski says:

delacrat, not laughing, still hoping that it was an early April Fools Day gag by Obama

  9. Jason330 says:

If Obama wants it, there must be some merit in the idea. I’m not kidding. Let’s say Obama says let’s get rid of the estate tax. I’m down with it because it is part of some mastermind socialist plan to trick the fuck out of the GOP.

    delacrat,

Read where he wants to drill compared to where milftastic wanted to drill. Obama never said he was opposed to drilling. So what she gets a show, everyone knows that they are trying to make her more appealing to intellectuals but that’s just not going to happen. Maybe if she does porn…

  11. delacrat says:

    OK Shortstuff,

    Do enlighten us on

a)where he vs. she want to drill ….and

    b)why the “difference” matters.

  12. Geezer says:

Not willing to do your own reading, eh? OK: Obama has ruled out drilling in waters north of New Jersey (mainly so he doesn’t piss off the two Maine senators, who both oppose it). He ruled out the entire West Coast. She, OTOH, like John Boehner, wants drilling everywhere.

The difference matters because the move is a political one.

Seriously, the jerking knees around here are getting dangerous.
