Whoa! McNabb to Skins?

Filed in National by on April 4, 2010

According to just-breaking news from Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Birds have agreed to trade DMac to the Skins. I’m guessing that they get the ‘Skins’ second round choice, which would be pick # 37.

Trading within the division is really unusual. It’s clear that the Iggles are in rebuilding mode. They’d better have a great draft.

2nd round pick this year. Conditional 3rd or 4th rounder next year.

Bet if youre a Skins fan you gotta be shaking your head, “why”? Mcnabb is horrible!

  3. I think McNabb’s a well above-average QB. He’s not elite, but teams have won Super Bowls with far worse. His stats have consistently put him among the best–and, until this year, without a superior receiving corps.

However, I’d definitely be shaking my head were I a ‘Skins’ fan. An aging QB behind a porous OL, below-average WR’s, and a MASH unit for an RB corps…oh, and no second-round pick. They almost HAVE to go OT with their pick (#4). Ain’t gonna be enough.

Something tells me that Shanahan’s a ‘short-timer’ in DC. This is a Hail Mary that’s not likely to be answered from above. And I don’t mean Dan Snyder.

Best and also most disappointing QB in Eagles’ history.

I’ve seen every single game McNabb has played with the Eagles. I have not missed one. What i have concluded is that he is a great QB, until he REALLY has to be. He is top notch on paper, he makes very few mistakes, but he ALWAYS makes them at the worst possible time. When he is good, he is in a class all his own, but when he is bad, … he might as well be puking in a trash can on the sideline. This was acceptable when he was a rookie, but it has been a defining characteristic of his whole career. On top of that, these untimely slumps are getting longer and more frequent. He is definitely in decline. I still want Andy gone, but i think the Eagles have taken an important first step in winning a championship.

Thats said, they traded their entire defense for nothing, got unreliable draft picks for cap’t Soup, AND gave Banner a lot of money to continue to do nothing. so they even managed to fail at THIS positive move.

I was listening to WIP Saturday and they were speculating that the Eagles are getting rid of salary because of the possibility of a work stopage after next season. And really, the way they played against the Cowboys last season, is it any wonder that they’re switching to rebuilding mode?

It’s the most words I’ve ever heard Andy Reid speak.

The Redskins showed a lack of class in how they treated Jason Campbell, the QB McNabb will likely replace. He heard about the trade from a newspaper reporter.

Campbell has been their primary quarterback since 2007 . It seems they could have called him before they called the media.
