Soft Bigotry of Low Expectations

Jon Stewart interviewed Ken Blackwell (The “I coulda been a contenda” odd man out in the RNC Chair election) about Blackwell’s new book. This was even abit painful to watch, but probably because Stewart did not have to do much for Blackwell to just look like he was a Total F*cking Idiot. Did I mention that this guy was in contention for RNC Chair? But this is a good example of the complete rewriting of history these wingnuts need to do in order to make their arguments. And a clear demonstration that the wingnut objection to Barack Obama has absolutely nothing to do with the Constitution — because the government and its functions operate as they pretty much always did — but because there is a Democrat exercising power:

The bit about objecting to the last 8 months of BushCo is pretty choice and pretty telling of the depths of hypocrisy that they’ll sink to, I think. And how stupid they really think you are.

  1. MJ says:

Blackwell was the Secretary of State in Ohio during the 2004 campaign who did everything in his power to steal the election for Bush. He tried to rule that the ballot cards had to be on a certain type of paper (which wouldn’t have been available for absentee ballots) and when the courts ruled against him, he arranged for heavily Democratic precincts to have too few voting machines than needed, while heavily Republican areas had more than they needed.

  3. Jason330 says:

That Republicans can complain that Obama is expanding Presidential powers is mind blowing.

  4. bamboozer says:

Ah yes! That Blackwell. But your right: Remaking and rephrasing history and reality has become a central part of the Republicans.

  5. Rebecca says:

    I couldn’t get past the first 30-seconds.

  6. Iowa Democrat says:

    Rebecca,

You really should force yourself to watch the entire interview, Stewart just kills Blackwell. I’ve seen Blackwell interviewed before on CNN and MSNBC, but never before has he been so completely exposed as a nut. Unlike the “news” interviews where complete BS went unchallenged, on the Daily Show Stewart picked apart his false assertions with facts. Watch it, it really is great.

  7. Born a Dem says:

I agree with Iowa Democrat, John Stewart really made Blackwell look like a total moron! It is worth watching.
