School Board Elections Today

If you live in the following school districts, remember to vote today. One At-Large seat is being contested in Appoquinimink. The candidates are Julie D. Johnson and Valerie Jones-Rabb (02-25-10). In the Brandywine School District, two candidates are running unopposed for Districts B and E. In the Christiana School District, George E. Evans, Eric M. Anderson, and Paul J. Falkowski are competing for the District A seat.

In the Colonial School District, Ronald P. Pierce has already been declared elected due to a lack of opponent in District B. In District D, Sandra J. Dwyer and Melodie Spotts are vying for the seat. In the Red Clay Consolidated School Distict, Richard H. Cross, Jr. and Martin A. Wilson, Sr. are running for the District B seat, and William Doolittle and Catherine Thompson are running for the District G seat.

Downstate, in the Cape Henlopen School District, there are four candidates in the running for a single at-large seat: Scott Dekuyper, Jodi Grahne, Roni Posner and Robert Spicer. Sandi Minard is running unopposed for the District B seat.

In Delmar, Incumbent David Burton is being challenged by Phillip Thompson. In Indian River, Kelly Willing and Rodyney Layfield are running for the District 2 seat. Incumbent Randall Hughes is unopposed for the District 3 seat. In Laurel, Board president Jerry White is being challenged by Brent Nichols. In Seaford, Frank Parks is challenging incumbent John Hanenfeld for a 5-year term. In Woodbridge, Incumbent Walter Gilefski is challenged by Evard Hall, Junior, Darryn Harris and John Poe.

    It is VERY inportant to note, the “NOMINATING” district is a qualification factor for the CANDIDATE ONLY. The ENTIRE district can vote in the election.

    Perhaps removing this from the above post in the interest of public service 🙂

    The Seaford race is interesting – the incumbent hasn’t accomplished much as board president and is rather unpopular. Also rather conservative. The challenger is quite popular but is very conservative and wants to scrap the establishment clause. What is a liberal in Seaford to do? I want change, but not a change for the worse! 🙁

    Scrap the establishment clause? of the U.S. Constitution?

    He can only try, the courts have been pretty consistent in holding it up via Lemon Test.
