Coons Picks Up DE Teachers’ Endorsement

Filed in National by on May 20, 2010

In what can only be seen as a slap in the face of Representative Mike Castle, the Delaware State Education Association (DSEA) has endorsed New Castle County Executive Chris Coons in the race for Joe Biden’s old seat.

The DSEA has a long history of backing Mike Castle for his Congressional runs and this has to surprise everyone based on Castle’s supposed strength on education. When you start voting as the Republican leadership tells you, there is a price to pay. I’m glad to see that the DSEA has seen through Castle’s masquerade as a moderate and sees him for what he is, a Republican crony.

Side note. I first saw this in Dialogue Delaware, however, that site is as slow . . . real slow . . . dial-up slow.

I would get on you for “yesterday’s news” but I will concede you had more important things going on while this was released. Kegger bus trips in FL going to see Atlantis. It’s all forgiven. 😛

too bad this doesnt matter, at all. Seriously, we need to get our act together for the NEXT Senate Race. 2014 is our real chance. Castle will be gone and we’ll have all advantages.

@anon1 – is that you, Beau?

  5. Geezer says:

Right. Like you know exactly what the political landscape will be like in 2014. And, if it is Beau, we’re right back to where we were a year ago, questioning why beyond his last name Beau is being touted for any political office at all. Heck, he’s done a real bang-up job as AG.

Encouraging to see this organization taking a hard look at each candidate and not just endorsing Castle because “they always have.”
Hopefully this is the first of many for Chris.

  7. anon says:

No surprise, but the Teamsters announced their support for Chris today….

Could they not have miced that more effectively? It sounded like it was done next to a major highway. Coons has been speaking brilliantly lately. I have heard him at several events lately. He is on message and the message is right.
