Kowalko Takes on Delmarva About Smart Meters

Filed in Delaware by on June 9, 2010

Next Wednesday, John Kowalko’s House Energy Committee will conduct a hearing to investigate the cost structure being used by Delmarva Power to install “smart meters” in homes in Delaware.  In Delaware, the cost of installing these are borne by the ratepayer, whereas in other states, Delmarva picks up the cost.

According to the press release, 80% of the cost savings provided by smart meters go to the utilities.  The Energy Committee is calling all of the involved parties (regulators and utilities) to get to the bottom of it.
