On Saturday, there is a coordinated canvassing event all through Delaware. This one is specific to the Newark area, but click on the link in the information to see your own area.

This weekend marks our second big Day of Action of the campaign season, and we hope that you will join us for a door-to-door canvass in your area! After seeing the results of last week’s primary, it’s more important than ever that we turn out every Democratic voter and tell them why it’s important to support our candidates this fall. Please join us for the canvass closest to you:

Coordinated Campaign Canvass
Saturday, 9/25 at 10am
Sunday, 9/26 at 12pm

Next week the University of Delaware College Democrats are hosting an event headed by DNC Chair Tim Kaine.

The College Democrats are proud to host Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine at the University of Delaware on Tuesday, September 28 at 6 PM in Smith Hall 130. Doors open at 5:30 PM.

DNC Chairman Tim Kaine, the former Governor of Virginia, will be the featured speaker at an event brought to you by Organizing for America (part of the Democratic National Committee) and the White House. President Obama will be delivering a simulcasted speech to students from the University of Wisconsin Madison, and we will be watching that speech at this event and hearing from Gov. Kaine, as well as from students and senior members of the College Democrats at the University of Delaware.

This will be a huge event drawing students from all over the area, so make sure to get there early. We hope to see you there. If you are not registered to vote, there will be a table outside the event for you to do that beforehand.

If you want to get out of town on Saturday, October 2 there is a “One Nation Working Together” march in Washington D.C. Pacem in Terris is taking a bus to the gathering.

Several chartered buses are going from Wilmington. You can ride the Pacem in Terris bus for $25 by calling 656-2721. If you’re driving, it’s best to park at Greenbelt or New Carrollton Metro stop (Metro parking is free on weekends) and take the Metro to Foggy Bottom (closest stop to Lincoln Memorial).

Don’t forget, WHYY is also hosting voter outreach forums. The next one is September 27 in Dover (details at link).

  1. Joanne Christian says:

I always have a problem when people serve hoagies in Delaware….. Geez.

  2. Anvil says:

“IT’S ABOUT JOBS!”: Let’s Get America Working Again! The unions are sponsoring an anti-Obama rally?

  3. Yeah, the Republican plan to fire a bunch of people when they get in office is a great job creation plan.

  4. Joanne Christian says:

And all this stimulus money has created how many jobs in Delaware?

  5. A. price says:

    4 in MY family.

  6. Joanne Christian says:

You are the luckiest family in Delaware. Hope it continues.

  7. It certainly saved our bacon in the state budget.

Stimulus money was used for the Fisker deal, a bunch of road work projects, the new rest stop oasis, some bridge work. I think they hired some police in Wilmington…

That’s off the top of my head.

  8. A. price says:

not to mention MAJOR (and needed) renovations to Wilmington Train station, making bridges all over Delaware (and the country) safe…..
Just because the money hasn’t effected you directly YET doesn’t mean it wont, or you will ever notice. For example… next time you drive over the Girard Point Bridge and it doesn’t collapse and kill you…. first thank the quality work done by an army of welders, then remember where that money came from.

  9. Anvil says:

“then remember where that money came from.” I distinctly remember. It’s your money, my money, and our grandchildren’s money. There’s no such thing as a free lunch. If Fisker was such a good deal, why didn’t they pursue venture capital? Additional police will become a burden once the federal subsidies die. Firing excess government workers will allow you more discretionary spending through lower taxes. Why has the private sector shrunk while state and federal government has risen? Both the R’s and the D’s have choked the golden goose. I distrust both sides of the aisle with OUR money. I’m sorry, I forget saying our or your money is coded hate speech.

  10. delacrat says:

It’s true that the stimulus money gave us a nice rest stop on I-95.

However, only the most deluded would think that really gets to the root of the problem, although it is a high visible sign that our system managers are “doing something.”

We did not get into this economic mess because the I-95 rest stop was outdated .

  11. Geezer says:

It’s not coded hate speech, it’s simply inaccurate. A certain percentage of “your” money is the government’s money (and the pieces of paper we actually use belong to the Federal Reserve). The stimulus was poorly planned and executed, but it wasn’t the wrong idea. The economics is simple to understand provided you have not sworn fealty to a different set of beliefs that has, after all these years, still not been proven to describe the way economies actually work in the real world. Even its High Priest, Alan Greenspan, now acknowledges that.

  12. A. price says:

    YAY ANVIL WANTS LOWER TAXES.
Anvil, if you can present me with NON PARTISAN proof that lowering taxes on big business (because that is who would get it) has EVER done anything other than grow the CEO’s non-taxed off shore accounts, i will vote for christine o’donnell.

  13. Anvil says:

Well A. price, I’ll put it this way. We can not, as a nation, sustain either the Democrat’s entitlement programs nor the Republican’s tax cut programs. The DC insiders pander to their respective bases in order to be re-elected irregardless of the consequences to our nation. The wing-nuts on both sides preclude any meaningful dialog with enough vitriol to silence those who would dare to do so. Our government swerves to the left and right like a car on the ice based on the electorate punishing the last party in power who screwed them. We are now, at the minimum, heading back to gridlock. If there are substantial GOP gains in Congress, they will scew us until they are eventually voted out of office. Unfortunately, many of the policies of the party screwing us at the time live on for a cumulative screwing. I don’t want you to think that I am cynical with my observations. As for COD, I pulled the Castle lever and agree with DL about COD and DP about Coons.

  14. A. price says:

    “irregardless” really?

  15. delacrat says:

    Anvil,

” We can not, as a nation, sustain either he Democrats ‘entitlement’ programs…”

You mean we can not sustain YOU when YOUR’RE too old to work ?

  16. Anvil says:

I rest my case. The wing nuts on both sides want to argue the extremes, not find the middle ground. Yes, I want someone to take care of the old who can not take care of themselves and hopefully have paid into the system. I don’t want to pay for Warren Buffet’s prescriptions. There’s a difference.
