Thursday’s Asshat of the Day
It seems that Carl Paladino had some second thoughts about his homophobic statements he made this past Sunday while visiting an Orthodox Jewish synagogue in Brooklyn. And those second thoughts and the apology he issued have cost him the endorsement of today’s asshat, Rabbi Yehuda Levin.
Levin is what we call in Yiddish a tuchas lecher (an ass kisser). He makes himself out to be this big macher (big shot) when all he really is is someone with a knack for getting publicity. His synagogue has all of 20 members, but he made himself out to be this leader of the ultra-Orthodox community. He’s not. He doesn’t speak for any of the Hasidic movements or rebbes who are a bit more pragmatic when getting involved in politics. He speaks only for himself.
He tried to stop a gay pride event from taking place in Jerusalem. He apparently supported the use of violence by protesters in opposing the planned event saying “I promise that there’s going to be bloodshed.” Yes, even we Jews have our Moishe Pupeks (jerks).
According to the NY Times, Levin thought that Paladino “folded like a cheap camera.” And he’s pissed that he had no notice of Paladino’s apology.
Rabbi Levin said he was especially upset that Mr. Paladino gave him no notice that he planned to back away from the comments.
“I was in the middle of eating a kosher pastrami sandwich,” Rabbi Levin said. “While I was eating it, they come running and they say, ‘Paladino became gay!’ I said, ‘What?’ And then they showed me the statement. I almost choked on the kosher salami.”
I’ll leave it to you readers to make the kosher salami jokes. Levin also blames “militant gays” for writing Paladino’s apology. This guy is a real meshuganah.
A self-appointed leader of conservative values. He fits right in with Beck, Palin, and the rest of the wingnuts.
I have one thing to say to Levin – vaxen like a tzibile mit dein kop en drerd (you should grow like an onion with your head in the ground).
I like : “one thing to say to Levin – ‘vaxen like a tzibile mit dein kop en drerd (you should grow like an onion with your head in the ground)’ “, MJ.
I’m not sure my punctuation is right. WTF
I may put that quote up with my favorites on my FB page.
Just the Yiddish [?], German [?] version without translation.
But I’m DEFINITELY filing it away for future use.
GOOD ONE !!!!!
It’s Yiddish, skipper.
Tango Yankee, MJ.
may he live in a giant house with a hundred rooms, and each room have a hundred beds, and may he walk from bed to bed each night unable to sleep
Its zionist homophobia, skipper.
may all his teeth fall out but one, and may it ache him.
Hey a. price–you Irish?
thats a jewish curse, joanne…. at least my grandfather used to say it about Reagan.
Louise – this has nothing to do with Zionism. That’s your problem, you cannot see the difference between being Jewish and being a Zionist. They don’t necessarily go hand-in-hand.
I love Yiddish. It’s so much cooler than Latin.
my favorite curse is “may you live in interesting times” such deep meaning.
Thanks a. price–and another mike–I love ’em all. It’s always great to give a blessing…with an exit to your enemies:)!!!! No backroom deals in those blessings/curses huh??!!!
