Cindy McCain Lies

Filed in National by on November 14, 2010

You can decide which is the lie.

Is this the lie?

CINDY MCCAIN: Our political and religious leaders tell LGBT youth that they have no future…  They can’t serve our country openly.

VARIETY OF SPEAKERS: What’s worse, these laws that legislate discrimination teach bullies that what they’re doing is acceptable.

CINDY MCCAIN: Our government treats the LGBT community like second class citizens, why shouldn’t they?

Or… is this the lie?

@CindyhM1 Cindy McCain
I fully support the NOH8 campaign and all it stands for and am proud to be a part of it. But I stand by my husband’s stance on DADT.

What a weak, pathetic woman.  Shame on me for thinking she had a backbone (and a part of me is hoping that this is a big misunderstanding – that someone hijacked her twitter account).  Geez, why even make the ad if you’re going to cave?  And either she doesn’t support the NOH8 campaign, and is okay with treating the LGBT community as second class citizens, or there’s some major dysfunction in the McCain marriage.  So… is she a bully or victim?  Those seem like the only two choices available since it looks like we can take independently thinking woman off the table.  Hope the loss of your credibility was worth it, Mrs. McCain.

Not a fan of twitter for exactly this reason. Its too easy to be misunderstood, and some people who use twitter like it that way.

Pandora, Cindy has been a long time supporter of NOH8, as has her daughter. She was pretty early as a well-known supporter. Asking her to embarrass her husband by an open fight about this is just malicious.

I just detest John McCain, who I see as an opportunist of the worst stripe. However, I think he’s entitled to the public support of his household.

John Mcinsane probably threatened to sleep with her if she didn’t recant.

The campaign is just propoganda. She should be ashamed for participating in the first place.

  6. anonone says:

    David supports MOREH8.

  7. xstryker says:

That’s like saying “I oppose abortion, unless I’m doing the aborting.” She literally contradicts herself within a single 140 character message.

Perhaps that could have been decided earlier, no?

Asking her to embarrass her husband by an open fight about this is just malicious.

What? She couldn’t have refrained from taking part in the add? What did the NOH8 campaign do? Force her to do the ad? If there’s an “open fight” then Cindy threw the public punch and John laid down the law and won.

Don’t blame the NOH8 campaign for this.

Someone threatened to shut off her access to prescription drugs

I’m not blaming NoH8, pandora. I’m blaming you. 😉 You’re the one expecting her to conform to your standards of cool. When Cindy originally signed on for NOH8 it wasn’t about DADT, or bullying, or anything but the way Prop 8 silenced and disenfranchised GLBT people in CA. Megan, whose social positions are often ‘left’ of mainstream republicans has been an outspoken advocate for marriage equality and has often credited her mother’s social conscience for her ability to choose such positions.

I’m married to a chemist. I don’t picket his work on their ecological record. That doesn’t mean I’m not concerned about ecology. I think there’s every reason to believe Cindy supports marriage equality, but didn’t run that past the RNC first, and decided, at this time, that she wasn’t going to be the go-to quote on DADT.

Barbara Bush wasn’t headlining choice events, either.

  11. pandora says:

I expect nothing from Cindy McCain. She set the bar by doing the ad. The time for her to state her objections was before opening her mouth.

They can’t serve our country openly.

Those are her words. Perhaps she wasn’t smart enough to know she didn’t believe what she said. The only person to blame for this is Cindy.

David is just a fucking asshole.

    They’re made for each other.
    Neither has a spine.
We learned all about “Singing Johnny McCain” when he gave information so fast at the Hanoi Hilton the stenographer was later treated for carpel-tunnel syndrome.

  14. anon says:

MJ is correct about David being a “fucking asshole.” I don’t see where the US Constitution prohibits gays from serving in the military or getting married for that matter. The Constitution is the solution.

What a pity that you have a problem with a woman holding different views than her husband. You’ve just set womens’ rights back to 1919.
