The Magical 1,000

One thousand new hires seems to be the new mantra of the Markell Administration in response the laying off of over 200 teachers in Delaware. Who can argue about the hiring of 1,000 new teachers? As a matter of fact, Delaware Dem even promotes the 1,000 new hires as an offset to the layoffs. But is it really an offset?

President Obama's American Reinvestment and Recovery Act, otherwise known as the Stimulus by normal intelligent people, and as TAX HIKES AND SOCIALISM!!!! (even though it contained the largest tax cut in all human history) by people who can't put together a correctly spelled sentence if their life depended on it (otherwise known as the Teabaggers), is now proved to be a smashing succcess.

The thing that our critics never understand about Delaware Liberal is that none of our ten contributors agree with each other all the time, and we never speak in one voice. We speak in ten voices. At times they are unified, but more often than not they are varying and sometimes they are dissenting. I am about to dissent a little bit from one of my colleagues, but I hope this starts a good discussion about education.

Americans Are More Like Obama Than Jim DeMint

A new Pew Poll shows Americans prefer candidates who are willing to compromise (44% more likely, 22% less likely, 29% no difference) and who voted yes on health care reform (39% more likely, 35% less likely, 22% no difference). Americans also hate the bank bailouts, 49% are less likely to vote for candidates that supported bailouts with 14% more likely and 32% no difference.
