This Year’s Eagles Season Was Like…

Filed in National by on January 9, 2011

…an unexpected present. Some crazy doodad from the Brookstone catalog that you would never buy for yourself but when pressed, you admit to lusting after.

It was like turning a corner in Paris and suddenly running into an old girlfriend who still looks great. You ask her out to dinner and the next thing you know you’ve spent a week together in Dubrovnik.

It was pulling onto Rehoboth Avenue and finding a parking space 50 feet from the boardwalk.

Sure the defense sucked, and Andy Reid coaches like a brain damaged Manatee on prozac. Sure other teams figured out Michael Vick…so what. The Redskins Monday Night game. The last 8 minutes of the Giants game. Vick’s first five starts… it was all poetry.

I think this season fits the meme: “the more things change, the more things stay the same.” Yes, the team is different than the many other Andy Reid’s teams, but the outcome is always the same. A good regular season, but falls short in the playoffs. It was as if, Tra Thomas and Jon Runyan were the tackles, McNabb the quarterback, westbrook the running back, bobby taylor/Troy vincent as the corners.

it was like every other eagles season. Lots of hype and excitement and “this one is different! they can make it!” and then…. the post season. <6 weeks till spring training.
