  1. Dana Garrett says:

Ryan’s speech consisted of fear mongering and appealing to greed. It’s the Republican’s only shtick. They are not merely conservative. They are also ossified. Nothing moves them to a new message.

I didn’t listen to the official response, but I have two small dogs, so if I want to approximate the experience, I’ll just throw them a toy and listen to the yapping as they fight over it.

Ryan did very well. 100 times better than Bobby Jindal from 2009 😉

  4. Ryan made it clear that if you’re under 55 you’re screwed if you adopt his plan. His plan is a joke, it raises taxes on 90% of taxpayers (guess who get cuts though!) and adds to the debt until 2063 when he’s gone. Then future Congresses will clear things up. Great idea Ryan!

Ryan’s response was fear mongering and still grounded in their rewritten narrative (bot parties responsible for the debt? please). It is clear that they think that just saying NO is going to be what they will continue to do — and I’m not confident that Democrats will let them sink on that. And I think that I was maddest at the fact that Ryan’s response will get covered with no fact checking, no accountability. It is really a shame that the media crouch behind *objectivity* leaves the rest of us without real information.

Ryan also avoided his signature “Road Map.” This is his claim to fame, right?
