Open Thread to Talk About What a Bunch of Frauds Libertarians Are
I’ll start. There are no Libertarians. There are just Republicans who are slightly more embarrassed than other Republicans to be in the Party of Glenn Beck.

Also…”A libertarian is a Republican who smokes pot.”
also… What’s the difference between a Republicans and a Libertarian? Republicans are amusing, Libertarians are jokes.
Three Libertarians walk into a bar… having just voted the straight Republican ticket.
Q: How many Libertarians does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: None. Libertarians try and try, but they never can change anything.
O.k, I bite after all these shenanigins.
You don’t know me. I voted for Bob Barr in 2008. I actually went to Ron Paul events when he was outcasted in 2007 and before the others on the right noticed him in 2009. Do I vote Republican more often than I vote Democrat? Yes, but that is due to the political geography of brandywine hundred than anything else. I voted for Kathy Cloutier, Judith Travis, etc. who are more fiscally conservative than their democratic counterparts, but who don’t showcase their social conservatism. I mean, look at Judith Travis’s page: http://www.judytravis.org/issues.asp. Is there anything about abortion or gay marriage (which I’m for)? If I lived in Amarillo, Texas, it would be a different story; where the theme is god and glory.
Look back at my comments during the Christine O’Donnell, Mike Castle primary. I expressed my displeasure there and I expressed my displeasure at O’Donnell again, when I voted for the “bearded marxist”. (Listen, I know he’s not a real marxist, but like he said, it’s a joke. But y’all need to calm your nerves when people say that about Coons). Why did I vote for Coons? Because O’Donnell was really a big government conservative who wanted to regulate people’s sexual lives. Abortion, gays, and sex was all she cared about. That small government, low taxation bit from her was just her masqearading as a small government conservative to get rent money and to get votes. I doubt she really believes in it.
When I lived in St. Louis, I was a petitioner for a campaign to reform eminent domain to prevent it from being used for private purposes(i.e. higher taxes). First, we attempted to stop the project through a city ballot initiative, but the big city government and their union backers threw out the signatures. Then, we tried to amend the Missouri state constitution to effectively reverse the Kelo decision. I can’t tell you how many doors I knocked on every saturday. Here was the campaign I took part in: http://www.showmepolicypulse.org/news/2009/08/antieminent-domain-activists-join-north-side-community-groups-cause/
Libertarianism was a mechanism for the Republicans to re-brand after their unpopular big-government adventures (FISA, Iraq War, Patriot Act). So are there big government conservatives masquarading as small government conservatives? Yes. But that doesn’t mean people like me exist or that we are few in number. Our numbers seem smaller, because we’re really split between the two parties. Half of the people in my libertarian group voted for Obama in 2008, because of the Iraq war, FISA, abortion, pot, excessive government spending.
In short, jason330, you need to actually go out and explore the political terrain before you pass judgements onto other people. Do you go outside your liberal bubble? (I know its big in Delaware, but still)
While I’m feeling a little sheepish about picking yesterday to go off on libertarians- my sheepishness doesnot change the fact that libertarians are Republicans.
Libertarians should do themselves a favor and tell Repubs to STOP calling themselves Libertarians unless they register AS Libertarians.
Does anyone really know what repubicans ARE? they ebb and flow between hard core libertarian and christian theocrats depending on where the election is.
