A $1.00 Chicken Sandwich Please, Hold the Benefits
I’ve noticed this story, but like the unreasonably cheap $1.00 chicken sandwich, I haven’t given it much thought. It appears that 100 unionized Perdue Farms chicken catchers will lose their jobs in March when their positions are eliminated. The good news: they can re-apply for their jobs, but must be willing to work longer hours for less money and fewer benefits.
Paranoia, Delaware Style
The 9/12 Patriots are holding a class on emergency preparedness for when the Dictator Obama declares an emergency. One must be prepared!
Obama/Markell Syndrome: Pols Split Loyalties Leave Front Line Democrats Listless
I know this much: The Democratic base is awesome. This story about people from around the country rallying to support the public workers in Wisconsin makes my New-Deal-loving-Woody-Guthrie-singing, heart leap up in my chest. And when…
“Happy now?”
Pam Scott didn’t actually say that in her “See ya later bitches*” statement, but she might as well have. As for…

Wisconsin’s Financial Crisis Caused By Scott Walker
Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker inherited a $120M surplus which he turned into a $140M deficit within 2 months. Now he’s tryin to balance the budget by taking money away from state workers and taking their collective bargaining rights while he’s at it.
THIS Investment Makes Sense
Buried in the Business Section of today’s News-Journal is, IMHO, a much better economic development engine than the one handed to the DuPont Company: State economic development officials will announce plans today to grant $2.4 million to Johnson Controls Inc. to support a planned expansion in Middletown, where the Wisconsin-based company operates a battery production […]
State of the Treasurer’s Office
Just over a month ago, Chip Flowers was sworn in at the Treasurer of the State of Delaware. Since that time, he has started fulfilling campaign promises. He has a way to go, but hey, it’s been a month. One of his suggestions was a regular report of Delaware’s economic situation. The idea was to […]
A Modest Alternative To Demonizing State Workers
Is it inevitable that greedy teachers, selfish game wardens and effete bus drivers will crush our state budget with their unreasonable demands to be paid a living wage? Perhaps not. An alternative would be to raise the state income tax on the wealthiest Delawareans by 2%. In a failed attempt to not sound like a strident hippy, I meekly hinted at this as a possible option during our recent meeting with Governor Markell.
Each time a person stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others… he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.
I’m quite optimistic about this Wisconsin thing catching on. New Jersey and Ohio seem to be likely candidates.
