History Recorded
I have been following the Flickr feed of the official White House photographer, Peter Souza, for the last two years and a half. His photos would already be spectacular given the subjects and the behind the scene-unseen nature of them. But he also has an eye for the moment, capturing rare glimpses of emotion from otherwise steely characters. Check out his photo of the moment the Bin Laden raid went down with all the national security principals watching. I am struck with both President Obama’s and Secretary Clinton’s faces.
Check out the different sizes of the photo too here.
Yes, President Obama’s and Sec. Clinton’s faces seem to grasp the gravity of what’s occurring. Interesting, isn’t it, that the person who became President in 2008 and the person who could have become President in 2008 are the ones struck the most by what’s going on.
This picture should be captioned “Mission Accomplished!”
Watching & listening to Bush audio/video clips on Osama bin Ladin vs the clips on Obama speaking about Osama bin Ladin
Bush was SUCH a raving idiot, what an un-presidential clown!
Obama is a class act, like his policies or not
Bush looks, stands and sounds like a hick, with no class at all
How did we survive those 8 years
powerful photo – awesome find.
Who is the man to Sec. Clinton’s right?
Sec. Gates has the look of a man knowing he can hang his hat and say “Good night, Mrs. Calabash wherever you are
Joe, that is Deputy National Security Advisor Denis McDonough, according to the caption to the photo.
Danke vielmals. I guess I don’t do captions, but I still think of you from the Kerry days on DK.
Ah, the halcyon days of F*** Ohio and the Pie Wars. LOL.
yeah, the good old days. Whatever was your decision? Did you find a place in Center City ? My advice was to commute. Amtrak rocks. Ask the VP Joe.
No. I bought a home in the Brandywine Hundred. I commute either by car or by the R2.
I heard that sappy dreck, “God Bless the USA” this morning, but it was remixed with the President’s speech. Awesome!
I’s so thrilled that the idiots at DelawarePolitics are besides themselves on this.
JC – you might need to enlighten these youngsters on your quote. They had to google my reference to Judge Crater a few weeks ago.
🙂
Wow, is DE DEM suggesting that he parsed flickr to find this photo yesterday? I saw it flashing across twitter and the web from Mother Jones to Think Progress to CBS and then MSNBC all through out the afternoon.
Sigh. No, I did not anywhere suggest I alone was the person who found this photo and I am somehow responsible for its mass desimination. Only in your warped delusional mind have I said that.
